turbo + silvertop = possible?
It´s OE stuff on the RB26 Nissan skyline, and on the Pulsar GtiR, and i dont consider that to be the dumbest engines to tune futher Smile

Edited to say, im this winter going to turbo my blacktop, and still use the ITB´s if nobody can convince me that it will better on a single throttle plate

But why use 20V engine when 2T (8V) one will perform the same way under (heavy) boost ?

But i cant see why i would downgrade the 4age engine that is already in the car,
i already got the blacktop in the car ,so that would be no costs other then the pistons, and rods, that i ordered

because you can sell the blacktop for 3x the price of an 16v and finance your turbo project with the remaining money? Dumb question

That´s not an issue with this build,
I actully just want to use this blacktop for fun!.

And i think it would be great with a turbo on the 20
The 16v would need cams, just that would make it more expinsive then using the blacktop!

You use individual throttles on a turbo engine for the very same reason that u use them on a NA engine: throttle response. + U get to use the nice big plenum as a boost chamber that can store nice pressurised air for you..
And the 8V vs 20V etc argument is also moot. You want the best designed head you can find. It allows you to reach the same hp levels, at lower boost and with worse quality gas. That means you can use a smaller more responsive turbo etc etc..the difference is the same as for NA.

Nissan Pulsar/Sunny GTi-R uses quad throttle bodies on it's SR20DET, and it made 240hp vs the 220 or so the 200sx made. This is data from the top of my head. But there was a difference, in power and in throttle response.

I'd do it.

He use a single throtle body on the Starlet, because it is more difficult to setup perfectly with 4 ITB's. I think it was something to do with the MAP sensor.
He only race 402m, so turbolag is not a big problem here. The Megasquirt olso feature antilag, launchcontrol and antispin.

Project AE86 now begun.

Cars I have owned:
Toyota Starlet EP91 1,3 16v Turbo, 200hp
Toyota Starlet EP71 1,3 12v Sport
Mercedes 207D camper, 1977.
Toyota Starlet EP70 with a 174hp Silvertop 20v See video here:

Toyota Corolla AE101 with a 164hp Silvertop 20v. (Evolution bodykit and candycolor paint).
Volvo 240 2,1 (The only car I have maked money on).
Toyota Corolla EE90 (my first car)

Well skassa, built your 20v turbo with 4 ibt's, and se if you can put down the same power as the starlet.
And remenber, everything is stock toyota parts on the starlet engine, including cams.
Looking forward seeing result here on forum.
