Help needed: firewall plates wanted
Time to revive this thread from the dead...
I received the phone number of the SR guy, but he never replied back.

However this popped up on Ebay last week:

A Swiss Corolla brochure containing the SR coupe! Hurray!

From the EPC I found out the SR was available in Switzerland between August 1983 and January 1985. And the Swiss GTi was available from February 1985 till July 1986.
The brochure is (presumably) dated February 1984 and the other brochure I own that is dated March 1985 and this is the pre-facelift brochure. So this is in line with the data from the EPC.

That's interesting, while I've seen 2-3 4-doors here I've never seen a 3-door SR.
So I can only assume the only sold a few and or most of them didn't survive.

Yes that's also what I suspected. The specifications are close to the Australian Sprinter SR and I suspect they are the same.
The model codes are:
AE86L-ECMXCC
AE86R-ECMXCQ
The C and Q at the end denote Switzerland and Australia.

I know quite a few were on the market about 10 years ago, including two in the Netherlands. But since they lack the 4A-GE, nobody was willing to pay money for those cars. Which was stupid as even a proper one would fetch a high price today.

That cars is news to me. It seems strange that nobody would pay good money for them, a 4AG swap isn't exactly the biggest job in the world. I bet the guys who turned them down ten years ago are kicking themselves now.

After a discussion with Neil Sheehan about the trim levels at 86Dach, I realised I never put my findings here. One reason was that I actually didn't have any solid findings, only a hunch. So, I did spend the past month collecting more firewall plates through the internet and, thanks to mostly Bring A Trailer, was able to get well over 150 of them! Hurray!

So, the conclusions so far are:
The pre-facelift (zenki) fabric codes in Japan all start with an F or Y character, while the facelifted (kouki) fabric codes all start with a G. The change is probably due to Toyota using a different fabric and then having to change the codes. The second character in the code denotes the trim level of the car, e.g. SE, GL, XL or GT. The two digits at the end denote the colour of the fabric. For instance, the Levin SE featured FF82 / YG82 (zenki blue), FB32 / YG32 (zenki maroon) and GR21 (kouki grey), while the Trueno SE
featured FG82 (zenki blue), FG32 (zenki maroon) and GS21 (kouki grey)

For the Australian cars, the fabric type is marked with a YA for 1984 cars and GA for 1984 and 1985 cars. The choice of colours was limited to maroon / tan and blue / blue. The Australian AE86 was only sold up until 1985, so it never switched to grey/black trim.

The USDM cars were available in model years, and this reflects in the trim codes. In contrast to Japan and Europe, after the facelift, the maroon and blue fabric remained available on the USDM models.

In Europe, the cars followed the Japanese coding up to 1986, but 1987 cars also feature the H code in the fabric. The latter are probably a different fabric as seen on Portuguese and Swiss cars.

The European models featured the following trim codes:

Judging from the table, I would expect the zenki 3 door with maroon interior to feature FZ32 as its trim code. However, I wasn't able to find an example of one and hence I don't know this for sure. If you own one, please share your firewall plate with me. Thumbs up!
