Surreptitious.....
Well.... with 140whp a crush sleeve lasts about 25,000 miles before the sleeves failure causes more extreme diff problems.......

Surreptitious.....
When initially building Surreptitious, I had some mirror issues, (I would have liked the vintage Hellas's.... oh well) and somewhat settled on the GT mirrors that I have.
But we never did properly install them, only using sheet metal screws for mounting.... and that doesn't hold up over time, and miles....... (annoying to have to tighten my mirrors monthly) Additionally... if you remember.... when I was building her I had purchased a rivnut tool to install the oil cooler brackets... So about 45min work, carefully drilling the 4 holes, and removing the burrs ![]() Hopefully tightening the mirrors will be a thing of the past........... more to come... ![]() Dan - You can | ![]() OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

Surreptitious.....
Wow... over 5 years since I posted in this thread....
1st, back in 2019...... it was my 60th, so I rented a race track ORP and invited some friends..... ![]() From 2020 until June of 2023 Surreptitious worked and drove as my daily. One day in June I started "her" and she was running on 3.... ![]() I had figured it was another cooked coil, so I swapped coils - no change! ![]() To make a year long struggle a bit shorter, we* finally found the problem... ("we" - my friend Jesse, and Marshall the guy who worked for FJO, and originally built the harness, and put all the components together back in 2009). ...the problem turned out to likely be a cold solder joint in the low ohm injector driver causing #1 injector to not always(intermittent) fire. We found this fault after replacing the coils, the O2 sensor, the ignition wires, getting the injectors serviced and even a spare ECU(Jesse's). Finally, all that was left was the low ohm driver. Holley had one, and I had a different friend cut out the old one, and wire in the new one. June 2024 she was back up and running. Since then I had a bit of a sway bar issue - the end link bushings got destroyed ![]() But driving it with no front bar and a moderately stout rear bar, I found rotation to have changed so much, that when I went to repair the front bushings, I decided to downgrade the bar to keep some of that rotation ![]() That pretty much brings the story up to date Dan - You can | ![]() OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |
