S13 Front brakes in AE86 rear
Is it possible to put the S13 rear brakes to the rear of the AE86?

probably with some custom brackets and modifications. Remember thought the S13 has a drum system for the e-brake

If I remember correctly AJPS is offering parts for this
dug it out http://www.ajps.com.au/parts/rear_brake_upgrade.php

hey bandit,

I think you're referring to S13 rear brakes onto AE86 rear.

I'm thinking S13 front brakes to AE86 rear for 2 pot ventilated large rotor brakes..

Is this possible?

How do you get 2pot if I might ask? If you are after two pot consider the Skyline/300ZX brakes

I was under the impression that S13 brakes are two pot in the front.

Even if its not its definitely got a bigger bite.

I have S13 front and rear parts hence I'm thinking of selling the rear diff and keep the front parts and use it in my AE86 rear.

I've only read up on S13 rear brakes going to ae86 and with minimal effort BUT if I'm selling the rear diff then I'd like to sell with brakes.

Anyone seen or even better, contemplated on this?

honestly I personaly don't think you will gain much with the S13 front calipers. The discs are bigger if you got the 280mm ones but apart from that you just looking for a lot of fab work as they are not designed to incorporate an e-brake.

I don't know your car or what you race but I haven't had a single problem with stock engine power and brake system apart from Project Mu pads on the Nurburgring. I could do 3 consecutive laps without fade and that's ~30min on track.

I'm running a hydraulic hb and without the cable hb so do you think it will still need any custom work?

My current issue is the even with the hydraulic hb my rear doesn't lockup. So I'm trying to see for alternatives.

I run a stock SR20DET red top at stock boost.

I've contemplated on getting down new discs as the ones I have are around 30 years old Smile and get better brake pads but I'm told that won't help as much as I would expect Sad

I see - I think bigger discs would already help. You can always trial fit the fronts from the S13 to the rear and see what needs to be done.
I did a lot of work on both cars but haven't seen an S13 in years now so not sure on the differences. I'll see what I can dig up (to be edited soon).

S13 front disc (280mm)

S13 front disc (257mm)

AE86 rear disc (231.5mm)

for the sake of a complete overview
AE86 front disc (234mm)

S13 rear discs (266mm)

you definitely need to change the caliper mount - if everything will clear I can't tell. As a pointer though the S14 has only 258mm dia solid rear discs

I assume you have some very sticky wide tires on the rear as I have not much problem to lock my rears with the stock setup, if I yank hard enough.

Thanks Buddy. Really appreciate it. I think the part I have is the 280mm disc. Need to check again.

I have 16" wheels on 205/45 ECOS Yokohama's so can't be that grippy or meaty as I'm sure you guys run on much fatter tires..

Based on this theoretically it should fit.. and yes I need to make a bracket for the calipers.

If you do find any info please let me know.

S13 Front brakes in AE86 rear
So based on my research, no one has used the S13 front brakes on an AE86 rear end cuz of the obvious e-brake issue.

But I don't see this being an issue on a track-day only car. But I haven't found much write up on it.

Given the specs given by Bandit, its the bracket that needs done similar to the rear one as both are bolt on from the looks of it.

If anyone has tried this please let me know.
