Questions about TRD 2 Way LSD and 4.7 Final Gear...

Hi everyone !

In 3 weeks I will install a 4.7 final gear and a TRD 2 way LSD on my Hachi.

I have several questions :

- Is the TRD LSD noisy ? I have read that 2 way LSD are noisy , but some persons says that if it is installed correctly , it isn't making noise.

- Is the 4.7 final gear bolt on ? My Hachi is a zenki model.

The final gears are all the same for GT ae86's.. (not sr5's), so that will fit, dont know if the term bolt-on quite covers the work involved.

Most aftermarket LSD's make a little chattering noise when cornering, but this gets less evident when they are worn in.. This is not the same noise you get when you install it incorrectly, cause that would be noise coming from your final gearset and not the lsd itself.

we have made some attempts in the past... look for ring AND pinion in the search, I'm sure something will pop up. For the rest I would say that the factory manual and all necessary tools are the bare minimum of what you need to get it done right.

also recall the trd 2 way being the most quiet of the after market ones?

Who cares about the noise, it's not like the ae86 is a particularly quiet car (in bog standard form it's already too loud to drivce comfortably).
You'd just be adding another sound..and when people ask you can tell them that's just the TRD lsd doing it's job.

Actually , my stock ring and pinion make a horrible noise when I accelerate. I was just scared that the 2 way LSD makes more noise ^^

the TRD 2 way is fairly quiet.I have one in my car


however it is not a job I would do my self send it to a gearbox place to get built. as it aint an easy job, and requires a few special tools

Hi !

My father have installed the LSD and the Final Gear last monday on my Hatchi...And I like it ! No more noise ! The TRD LSD is realy quiet !
