I have just turned down a AE86 hatch with the Super charged 4AGE conversion coupled to a Supra gearbox bigger brakes etc etc.
My thinking is the spirit of the car will be lost it will of gained weight the chassis will not handle the power well.
I have a 150/165 BHP 4AGE N/A coupe Levin that I have just brought and I think stripping this out too make it a light weight racer will make it a better car.
Or have I done wrong Confused

it'sall down to personal preference.. I wouldnt mind some of that supercharged torque for daily traffic..and I doubt it would hurt track performance.

when thinking of street / mountain driving then i definately agree with you.

I actually like the ae86 so much more on the streets / mountains than my s14 because of the light weight and engine response. The s14 has become laggy and hard to drive quickly on the streets with the increased power, etc.

On the racetrack it's a different story imho - never enough power there Wink

I remember a video on UTube where two AE86 raced a Skyline R34 around a mountain road one was 220 bhp and the other 165bhp, the lower powered car came in first then the high power car then the R34GTR.
But the driver of the 165bhp was rather good at driving Respect!

Best for we to drive my car for a while I think before raising the power and running costs.

The car handling depends on more than just the car. Mostly the driver.

I have just experienced it. I have 133 hp on the wheels so lets say around 150 on the crank. Its not enough on a track. Even if I lighten the car. The AE86 will keep the problem of having body roll also because of the rear axle.

The car could very well handle the supercharger as it has the charateristics of an NA engine but with more torgue.

I have Brands Hatch as a local track about half hours drive from my house. On the Indy circuit a AE86 could win against R34 GTR.
