Yup. he sound was the disk touching the housing (I think it's called clutch cover, we call it plateau). Apparently the guy who custom built the disk didn't think about that. It was taken care and now it's completely gone.
Other thoughts on the car: Little whirring noise coming from the gearbox when in fourth gear and to a much lesser extent (some times you can't hear it) from second gear. Especially when I get off the gas and the car starts deccelerating. Becomes much more audible when I pull or push on the lever (in gear, but not hard enough to get it out of gear). Could it be the short shift intervening with the lever travel? I need to sort out the wheels I got (brush and repaint), because YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE the state of my tyres. Just imagine that the rear left (which is the worst) lost 0.5 bar from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. Sidewalls are cracked on all four tyres and the tread is little and very dried up. Very dangerous for road use. I'll do it as soon as I get some cash. Suspension is indeed very soft and needs replacement. Next on my list. |

Dorito, that is good news!!
![]() Your tires sound like my old ones were ![]() As for the sound in your gearbox, no idea what that could be.. have you checked that there is enough oil in the gearbox? Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi ![]() |

This may sound very stupid but how do you check if there's enough oil in the gearbox? I mean, it was rebuilt, so I'm guessing (maybe a wild guess, seriously) it was filled properly. Can you tell me mux?

Hey Dorito, well then they must have done it good but its very simple really, put the car on a lift, then there is a bolt on the bottom for emptying (dont open this

you should try using racing oil for the gearbox.
needs some time to warm up but its good. If you need details call me. Dont buy new tires man, get yourself four used ones with very little money, or do what i did: Buy two new ones for the font so that you have a good steering wheel, and two used ones for the rear. or even buy four new ones for the road AND four used ones for track drifting We'll see about the Friday meeting, I think i might have work to do, even on the weekend... danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the end ![]() |

@ Dorito: I have the sound from my gearbox too. It came after i installed a shortshift kit (homemade offcourse) Its because the angel of the gearlever isnt the same as stock, and therefore the gearlever bag (?) is pushing on the lever, whos forcing the bushing in the "cup" and that causes the sound. The sound my gearbox made, went away with the stock lever-bag, and then my mom´s gonna fix a new one in leather

Doctor: I've done 450 kms in 3 days. T50 is a sturdy gearbox, but doing that sort of distance with no oil would make the gearbox space shuttle stuff! I'll check though.
Knudsen: I have the stock plastic bag. I'll try taking it off to see if it persists. Thanks for the idea though! |

Another update guys:
I have now passed 1500 kms. I am now revving 4th and 5th gears to 4000 rpms. Throttle up to 50%. The engine feels muchs beter already. Excellent response, revs up to 4000 with ease, no hesitation. Throaty sound, but I soil my pants when I think 100% throttle, 5-7000 rpm and light flywheel ![]() As for the gearbox noises, there is a loud scratching sound when depressing the clutch while downshifting, or while upshifting slowly so that revs drop a lot. I'm shure it has to do with the racing clutch, but I wanna see what the mechanic has to say about it. Also, I have removed the yellow paint from my Equip wheels and they already look much much better. I'll post pics when I can. |
