Lightbulb Cyberpunk 2-Door Levin
Hello!

I finally took some photos which do the car justsice. I am currently building a custom 3D printed headlight intake with the general goal of building a slightly Cyberpunk inspired car Big Grin

This version is just a prototype for now, features a "Pop-Up" evil eye but doesn't have any hight adjustment yet.

The plan is to make this adjustable, maybe delete the Flap and add a SAE/E marked light to make it legal for road use in other countries.

But that aside, I am already super happy and think the vision I have with the car is slowly taking shape Big Grin

That headlight looks evil indeed! Big Grin
Is it even legal to drive with two different headlights in Japan? Here in the Netherlands the rules aren't that strict, but having two different colored headlights will certainly have the police stop you here as well.

Good question, for now the police didn't mind much so I guess its fine. In the long term I am thinking about making them both yellow so they match and I would even be able to get Shaken with it.

My goal is to also build a general possibility for people who need to replace their headlight but don't want to pay a fortune for factory ones. All with E/SAE/DOT certification so it could even be eligeble for europe Big Grin
Probably without the flap though, in a slightly more elegant, simple version

Certification in Europe wouldn't be a big issue as long as they adhere to the SAE regulations. Getting them to pass Tüv regulations might be a bigger issue, as it would cost time and money. Would it be possible to pass a car during the Tüv test with just an SAE-approved part?
I forgot to ask, but I would assume the lamp units themselves are LED. Would it be possible to make them multi-colored? Big Grin

I am currently working on finding a supplier for E-Mark approved lights.
I'll need to get in touch with my TÜV friends in Germany but I believe when I worked there, my collegue once told me, as long as the "light part" is E-Mark approved, you could build your own housing for the headlight and still be legal.

Well, thats the plan, will see if I can make it work Big Grin

Right, that makes sense. However, that begs the question that if something is approved in a country with some loose rules and laws, it would pass in stricter countries. Big Grin

That is indeed correct as per my most recent info, as long as the housing is fully transparent (or retracts... Cool ). If the housing is exposed, pedestrian safety requirements may come into play, which would need further investigation.

Hey, I wanted to post a little update on the car!

I had some time over the winter to go through a few iterations of headlights until I found one design that I liked so I made two matching ones.

Also found some cool old Bosch fog lights and mounted them to the bumper support for some Rallye looks Big Grin

Next I am planning to tackle the Rear wing finally after getting some ideas for a good mounting solution that doesnt require drilling into the car.

Well, the symmetry is certainly an improvement. How does the law over there respond to them, I imagine you would get pulled over daily in most of europe.

For now no Police officer has ever even looked at me lol

Will see how it goes when it's time for the bi-anual inspection soon! I hope I will pass with these lights, if not I might need to downgrade back to the OEM lights for the inspection.

The Police themselves are pretty chill most of the time
