Are the camcovers exchangeable? Is it possible to put the intake side on the exhaust side?

They are exchangable for the 16v... However you need to take into consideration that you will either have two cam covers with an oil filler cap an an oil breather or two cam covers with none. The last one is not really advisable.
 Dunno about the 20v. Should be exchangeable, however they are differently shaped than the square 16v ones so it would look weird I guess.

It's actually an easy trick used by some guys to stop the typical oil spillage to the intake in long lefthand corners. All you should need is a longer breather hose.
