A Kiwi in Germany
Hi Everyone,

As the subject says, 'gidday' from a Kiwi living in Germany!

A bit of history regarding me, back in the day, 1992 I think it was, I was the proud owner of a 3 door, 1985 AE86 Panda (silver / black). Had all the bells and whistles, including A/C and sunroof. Unfortunately I had to sell it a few years later and have regretted it ever since!

Since I moved here 6 years ago, I have been on the lookout for a tidy-ish AE86 to relive the 'old days'. Having recently picked one up, I am looking to tidy it up a bit and using it as a daily running (in summer at least). I somehow like the idea of arriving at work with a grin on my face!

Great to see all the projects that have been documented here. I am sure that I can get a load of tips from them.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all.

Cheers!

If by hatchback you mean coupe, then yes!

LOL! Big Grin
The ever confusion about the coupe naming: they are both a coupe according to Toyota. Wink
But I meant indeed the hatchback and not the notchback.

Welcome aboard!

It's really cool that you owned an AE86 back in the day when the car was still considered a modern car for those days' standards and before it acquired its classic status and cult. The younger ones around here didn't get the chance to live the 86 life back in the day Smile

Cheers!

Cheers headrush, story gets even a bit funnier, as the car salesman who sold the car originally, was involved in every sale to the next 5 owners!

I was working as an Auto sparky when I bought it, and I clearly remember my boss taking a look and saying, 'EFI?, that will give you trouble'! Never did of course.

Well the car is finally back on the road again! Finally finished the points that the TüV man found (the are quite fussy here!). Took about 6 months, but a lot of that was just waiting for parts.

Here's a few pics of what we did. I didn't start a project thread as this isn't really a project yet! Just getting it back to a daily runner initially.

A few shots of some of the rust we had to sort out.
