20v blacktop help
I have sourced a 20v blacktop engine and it may come with some sensors etc.
From what I have read I can use the standard distributor if I allow for the bulkhead, no problem there as it is a rally car. There will not be an ECU with the engine though, will this mean I cannot use this distributor after all ? My intention is to use a megasquirt.
There will be no 20v engine loom either, can I modify the standard AE86 loom ? What about the plugs/sockets for the modded loom ?
I will fabricate a water line etc.
I cannot use forced induction and I do not want to increase the capacity.
Thanks for any help.

You will need the many plugs that go to the engine sensors. So in short NO.

If you are going to use an aftermarket ECU you will find that there are
not so many wires needed to make the motor start and run. You should
be able to take a crank position signal from the distributor to the ECU,
and with a standard coil, use the distributor for ignition.

The ECU will also supply an earth to fire the injectors if you provide a
common switched power supply. Other than that you will need TPS, MAP
water temp and air temp sensors, all wired back as inputs to the ECU.
Easiest way is to make up a new loom, and try and track down as many
of the OEM plugs as you can.

If your ECU supports VVT, knock sensor, idle-up valves etc, you will
need wires for these as well. And finally, you will want an ECU controlled
output to switch power to the circuit opening relay/fuel pump.

Can you recommend an ECU that will support these applications ?
I am considering an Omex 600 and welcome suggestions.
thanks
