it seems the rev limit on my Zenki ecu is high enough to allow
60 mph in 2nd gear.

185/80/13 is OEM size for the AE86, so there is no difference in there... Wink

But you could be right about the 8200 limit: I got my Trueno all the way up to 7800 at just around 100 with standard size tires (185/60/14) whenever I was doing my tunnel-fun. Give or take the few percent difference it would mean it was limited around 95. With the 8200 limit you could just touch the 103. In theory that is...
That would also imply that you were running really at the end of your rev limit and did not shift at a sane rpm...

Totta, you don't use the ECU of the smallport ?!

BTW I never seen any stock zenki AE86 rev up to 8200rpm
(all AE86 from France are zenki)
Maybe on the orignal tachometer, but it's absolutely not accurate, you can even see the lag of the needle Big Grin
(with an aftermarket tachometer, I never seen any of them rev over 7800)

So I fitted my Cusco ecu again yesterday and had a play with cam timing.
The Cusco ecu has a higher limit but I don't know what it is. I last used it on a rally and at one point in 1st gear it hit a limiter and it was like hitting a brick wall, no smooth cut then !
Anyway 0-60 is now at 7.04 seconds but the improvement is in the quarter mile at 15.84 (as expected the standard ecu was going lean at mid range and top end, killing the torque)
I'm happy with that and now I can't wait to get a lower final drive fitted.

not sure what my zero to 60 times are... I DO know my 1/4 mile times. Car is AE71 coupe with a smallport 16V, running "264" type cams.

15.77 is my "fastest" time, but look @ how slow 60 foot and 1/8 mile times are... we WONT mention reaction times Angry

my 15.77 should have a 2.1 second 60 foot time, but the best my 60 foot time is a 2.5 second 60 foot time. A 2.5 second 60 foot time would normally equal a 1/4 mile of 18.1 Sad

I truly believe with a decent driver.... (one who has driven @ the drags more recently then 1978 Blush ) would produce a sub 15 second car based on my dismal numbers

Oh... that 15.77... is running with a 3.58 final drive Huh
Toss in a 3.9 and that 1/4 mile time might just end up being a full second faster then I could get from her

Good numbers there OST Thumbs up!
I'm not subject to reaction times when using the meter so I guess it makes things much easier for me.
Do you know the weight of your car + driver ?

My transmission is at the end of its life, cant really change gears fast now...plus it seems like my engine is a little bit down on power...

Stock blacktop with custom trumpets, and some kind of a cheap chinese ebay 4-2-1 exhaust header. Shitty summer tires on cold tarmac, full interior, FRP bodyparts, rollcage, etc...we counted that the car is 1000kg with me in it. (im 71kg)
