Hello there,
Marcos here, from Portugal. I'm a proud owner of an AE86, kouki, from 1985, one of the firsts kouki here in Portugal perhaps...
I'm not a new new member, but I'm presenting just now. I'm an AE86 lover, and was trying for a long time to buy one, but the prices kept climbing faster then I could save... Fortunately appeared one cheap enough to buy and I jumped the gun. My thought was to buy it also as a investment, until I drove the first meters... I just felt in love with the car.

The car is a 1985, Kouki, imported new from Switzerland. I didn't understand well the story, but the truth it is one the firsts here in Portugal, because of the license plate, and it is a MAF with catalic converter.

The car has some problems that I didnt antecipate (perhaps the cheap price), that I need to solve, like the bent chassis from a old impact. Nevertheless, I have big plans for the future. The after solving the chassis problem, I would like to rebuild the engine, with some few mods, like poncams and an exhaust. After that, in the future, the car will be restored, painted and converted to Trueno. That's my dream, that I hope to achieve.

And the nickname came from the wheels that I have, the Rota RKR, that are the wanna be watanabes .

I suppose most people don't care about the two Daihatsu so I'll get straight to the point
My Trueno is a 1985 kouki model, almost all stock. I have some modifications on it that I did or the previous owner did but it's a very well preserved car.
I'll make a dedicated post about the car soon.

Hello. Just signed up after a few years absence. I bought my UK AE86 back in 1990 when it was just called a Corolla. It’s been off the road about 20 years after the fuel pump packed up and I had to put it in storage. It also has a few rust issues but not nearly as bad as some I’ve seen and a few other small problems but now I see more parts becoming available and my son’s desire to drive it, now that he has a license, I guess it’s time to get it back on the road. I’m sure some advice will be needed. Cheers guys.

Hi All - A little car history background for me. I have owned a good few cars over the years.

Honda Integras,Civics
BMW E21, E36M3, E46M3
Porsche Boxster
Subaru WRX
VW Polo, MkV Gti, Mk7 Gti (still have)
Range Rover Sport
Evo 5 (still have)

So a bit of everything and my dad would have had a crazier list, from Triumphs, to MG midgets, to Lancia X19s, to BMWs, VWs, Toyotas etc etc.

Anyway long story short I have finally gotten around to grabbing an AE86 Levin 2door. A number of times I've failed to get one over the years, either through lack of money or lack of space or both.

Now sitting at the docks in Japan is my 1986 Levin. I'm no stranger to rust, and I expect there to be plenty because pictures can hide so much - but here it is. GT-Apex, keep fit windows, no LSD, abs, power steering, sport lip?, FRP bonnet and tailgate, fujitsubo exhaust, I am assuming rusty shock tower drivers side from pictures also.

So hopefully it won't take too long for my Evo to have a buddy !

Hi everyone!

My name is Nik and I am actually from Germany but moved to Japan and ended up with this beauty of a project

It started off as a field-rescue at a quite well-known tuning shop and from pulling it out i've spent the last year repairing and getting it on the road.
There is still a lot to do and to fix, since it has been sitting for a while and was a former amature rally car so it has some deformations on the chassis that i had never seen before but it's slowly getting there

The engine made a healthy 105PS on the hub-dyno and sounds and starts amazing. The rest of the chassis is not in the best shape but that's the fun, isn't it?

I'll take good care of it and have the plan of getting into drifting a bit and take it to the Gunma mountains more !

Nice to meet you all!
I'm also developing some parts and want to start reproducing some more affordable replacements for some parts that I think got too expensive to buy new

Hello fellow users!

I´m Stefan from west-germany, located at Ludwigshafen am Rhein. I have been into cars ever since, and i own a rover mini cooper from 1987 so i´m used to oldtimer stuff.

Initial D is the reason i wanted this damn 86 so hard, but they havent gotten cheaper in the past decade...so this dream stayed a dream for a very long time.

2 months ago i decided "fuck it, i´ll buy myself one" and started searching the internet, fb, whatever source i could find about getting my hands onto one of these splendid little cars. After browsing for days and days and searching through whatever japanese car dealer or auction site i was just about to abort the idea....the prices are staggering, for i was looking for a car that hasn´t been completley raped as a drifter/street racer and therefore no chance of being street legal here in germany.

I got in contact with a german guy whos living in japan and exporting cars to the DACH region, and we found a car that seemed to fit into my scheme.

Its a late 1985 Trueno hatchback with some mods like recaros, a momo steering wheel, blitz suspension, a strut bar, tinted windows. So far nothing to wild, (we´ll talk again when the car is here and the infamous TÜV, the german institution for making sure your car is not a deathtrap after all, has it approved) i bought it.

Until the car will be here, my days are filled with exploring the new rabbithole i´ve gotten myself into and thinking about which spareparts i should get first

Hello guys,

I’m the proud owner of an 1993 AE101 Levin with the 20v Silver top which I have owned for nearly 5 years. Pretty much all suspension components have been upgraded, half cage, harnesses etc. with some great fun had on the track. Engine wise pretty standard although i have fitted a lightened flywheel.

Now at the stage where I have pieced all the bits together to go for a standalone ecu from Haltech which I plan to install over the next month or so, little anxious I won't lie! I think I may have jumped the gun and posted a topic in the tech section with a couple of questions re the install seems as though you guys have great knowledge across the 4AGE world !

Anyway thanks for having me

Hi all, ive been a bit of lurker on here for a few years but I registered recently after buying a silver/grey UK late spec ae86. Very close to original spec just with 13" alloys, Janspeed and coilover suspension. I don't plan on doing much with it as the last owner done a mini resto on it in their ownership (for 15 years!)
I am having an issue with the handbrake not being strong enough to pass the yearly inspection (MOT Here)

hi everyone,

I want to introduce my 1986 levin gt apex coupe.
I currently daily the car which is very nice to do as it has power steering and a/c.
it's low km, low rust and low power
I got the wonderful opportunity to acquire it a year ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed modifying, and just taking care of it.
the car was probably built in japan somewhere in the early 00s and hasn't received much attention since so it's an amazing time capsule of period touge builds.
I bought the car with a blacktop already swapped in (which is something I really wanted to do if I ever were to get an ae86) and I installed a kaaz superQ 2 way lsd so it likes to slide. Other mods done by me include: the mighty tea sieve intake mod, the sapporo catch can and some boring things like cusco strut bars etc.

in the future I want to continue making unique modifications but also do some regular stuff like coilovers, wheels and some other chassis things. I'm not chasing much more power but i'd like to build the engine a bit too at some point.

well, this was my introduction! keen to see what I can learn on this platform!

I do hope the picture was transferred correctly as i'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to computers

I have stumbled upon this site multiple times, mainly due to checking stuff out that I needed to gain info about, but never actually joined.

Name's Ryan and I come from Malta. I've gained more interest for the AE86 in these recent years, and after watching Initial D, I got hooked even more

Long story short, I found an AE86 (or better to say, it found me) on the marketplace and the rest is history.

Hoping to gain more knowledge about these cars and their history. Thanks guys!

Hello all, just joined, obviously!

I'm from the UK and Recently got myself an 86. I have wanted one for years, before I even learned to drive. They were always my favourite car on any game I played as a kid!
But only now have I been able to afford one.

Anyway I have picked up a jdm 84 2dr levin, ideally I would like a 2dr trueno but maybe I will look to swap the front sometime in the future. It seems a pretty clean car so far, just needs a bit of bodywork and a couple of technical bits doing, which is some of the reason I am here!

Was going to post a picture but it doesn't seem to want to let me attach anything to the post

Hi everyone, i'm Simone from Genoa in Italy!
I'm (only from almost two week) the happy owner of a 1984 AE86 Corolla Levin.
The car is originally from Austria, so it's real name should be Toyota Corolla Coupé GTi
i went to the rescue with 3 friends, and after a long night ride to Germany (and back)i finally take it home!
The car needs a complete rebuild and has some rust that need to be eliminated, but i love the 86 and i can't wait to put my hands on every single parts
In photo the hachi at home (for now) and the moment of the rescue.
Hope to get help here and hopefully help someone out in this crazy journey

Hello from Germany I'm Michi and I want to say Hello

First of all my passion with Japanese cars startet in 2009 or 2010 when I started drifting but at that time I couln d afford a Japanese drift car so I went down for some BMW e30 to start drifting.

3,5 or 4 Years ago I bought the AE86 from a old guy who owned the car since the beginning. The model is a white, booter, sunroof, afm and kat... model. When I bought the car it was completely stock and had around 85k km on the clock. Now the car has around 101k km on the clock and is lovely to drive.

If you are interested I can post a little spec list from my oem plus 86

So again Hello

Thats the car i Think one year ago
