Hi everyone!
This 4/5 October, at Magione track in Umbria there will be an event that might be quite interesting for us ae86 owner.
The event is basically a competition to see who set the best lap time, probably divided by category and it has been going on for several years now.
The exciting news is that for the first time in an amateur event in Europe, Keiichi Tsuchiya will partecipate!
The car that he will use has not yet been revealed.
I'm trying my best to have the car ready for that date, but i just wanted to let you guys know in case someone was planning a trip in Italy during that period
You can find more info and links here https://italiansuperbattle.com/ , but they mainly send updates on Instagram

at the risk of jinxing myself.... my 86 has been running daily without any real issues.
The only issue i've been encountering is that it eats fuel pumps at a pretty alarming rate. My latest started producing a high pitched whine a few days ago, it sounds like the intro of the immigrant song by led zeppelin.
I installed this fuel pump almost a year ago. Before that i had one that lasted me less than half a year.... I bought the car with a broken fuel pump too. Thus far all my fuel pumps have been Walbro 255 lph units which may point me to a reason why this has been happening. For the sake of good science I have purchased a Deatschwerks DW200 which I will install as soon as it gets here. If I manage to run this pump for a decent time my mystery is solved but I somehow got this gut feeling that even this Deatschwerks pump won't last.
During my last install I have thoroughly multimetered all the fuel pump connections, they all checked out just fine.
an interesting detail might be that once the headlights are turned on the pitch slightly lowers, this might be a quirk and not causal but noteworthy nonetheless.

Anybody out there experiencing similar issues?
Or any suggestions as to where I could start solving this mystery?

lines are fresh, gas tank is new, fuel filter is new.

Hey guys,

today my noby booth airbox arrived from japan. as some may know i drive a rhd kouki levin coupe with a 20v bt swapped in. it has been running open stacks for a long time but i have finally decided to go with an airbox in the hope of preserving my engine a bit better.

before buying the noby booth unit i tried to find as much information as i could, as i usually do before buying something, but i struggled to find info on this airbox. This is why i have decided to take this matter into my own hands and make a detailed series of the process of installing it and to share as much info for the world to see so that people have a better idea of what they're getting than i did.

some preliminary info: i ordered the box only, i have measured the inlet to be 80mm (information that was not on the internet for some reason) so i will be installing a universal 80mm filter and some piping but it seemed kinda wasteful of the shipping and tax costs to get that from japan too
i have bought a set of 30mm SP-TEC stacks to run inside the airbox, i currently run 70mm stacks so i hope i don't lose too much sound and low range...

the box seems to be well made but the carbon is a bit too stretched out in places.... nothing too terrible for a 200 euro box tho

AEU86 shop renewed!

Probably nobody noticed, but I (finally) migrated AEU86 to a new server about a month ago. I know this will make Bean very happy as he often informed me when the old server had crashed and I didn't notice it myself. (again, many thanks for that! ) Unfortunately, the old shop software was not happy with the upgrade (incompatible with the latest version of PHP) and stopped working. I built a new shop website and as of yesterday orders can be placed!

There are a few new improvements I put in there as well:
1. Ordering the LEVIN part of the rear decal in gold (for example the zenki 2 door Levin rear decal can be ordered in Black & Gold / Silver & Gold or White & Gold)
2. Decals are now available as both zenki and kouki designs
3. Find out which ones are the correct decals for your AE86
4. Decal placement/alignment guide

If you see anything not working properly or have any suggestions/improvements, I'm all ears!

40 years ago the AE86 was first shown to the press on May 12th 1983. I read this date somewhere in one of the Japanese magazines and forgot about it until today, so I check and found out last Friday it just happened!

I also put a post on the front page with a few excerpts of the rabbit hole I'm going through:
http://www.aeu86.org/2023/05/14/happy-40...ueno-ae86/

This also means the first few AE86es produced are starting to become 40 years old as well!

Hi everyone!

As we all struggle with new parts for the AE86 i recently dedicated some time to read the entire website.

Website: https://toyotagazooracing.com/gr/heritage/

This allows everyone with an AE86 to request up to 5 different parts!

So, o decided to share this here, and get an overall idea for:

- What are the most important 5 parts you would ask GR Heritage Parts to reproduce?

Please leave your comments below!
I will be editing this post with your choices...

In the end, we might come up with 5 real parts and it's just a question of everyone filling out the form on their website and we all will speak as one!

Cheers!

I will now just post mine!

Number of requests | Part number | Description | Notes
1 | | Front Bumper Kouki Trueno | No color.
The EV is taken sideways, but the Trueno is driven really slowly on the test track. I reckon it's deemed not good enough yet to do that.

The video is full of small tongue-in-cheek-jokes. The Levin has written Electric Vehicle (experimental) on the side in the familiar Fujiwara Tofu Ten manner, while the Trueno has written Hydrogen Engine (experimental) on the side. The Trueno also features the Japanese 1980s sticker that used to read "only fill up with high quality unleaded fuel" that now reads "only fill up with high quality hydrogen". Both cars are on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
