Plus, depending on your setup it doesn't have to look modified. But trying the car in stock form would be interesting (I'd love to compare with mine) |

Congrats on your acquisition, Banpei!
It looks like the perfect car to solve the small problems it could have due to the pass of years, add some minor and tasteful mods here and there in the process and enjoy it as an OEM+ Goddess Anyway, it would be interesting to see whatever you choose! |

Today is the big day: the boat will arrive in the Amsterdam harbor!
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to pick it up myself. Apparently you need to have some sort of business with the customs, otherwise you are not allowed to pick it up. So I had to hire someone to do this for me... Also my daughter is in hospital since last Friday, so I probably only pick it up in two to three weeks time... The project didn't stall though: In other words: hoarding parts and unboxing them. 1982 - TA60 Carina 4dr sedan - fun cruiser 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Thanks guys!
My daughter is slowly recovering, and if she progresses this quickly she can go to daycare next week. So probably I'll pick up the car next week. 1982 - TA60 Carina 4dr sedan - fun cruiser 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Zenki two door Trueno from Japan
It finally happened today: I picked up the AE86!
We drove to the import/export company handling the roll-on-roll-off cars with a flatbed, expecting to be back in one or two hours. Well it took a little bit longer than that... Apparently they didn't move it out of the protected customs area, so we had to enter that first. And there are some scary crab-like machines driving around there! We were greeted by the Trueno sitting sadly in a corner of the warehouse, surrounded by mostly US imports. After moving around a few cars and starting the AE86 for the first time, we were able to move it towards the flatbed under its own power. I wanted to flip up the headlights for fun, but that immediately killed the engine. Never seen a battery that flat! Loading proved to be a little bit difficult since the zenki lip makes it hard to clear the angle of the flatbed. Fortunately enough the owner of the flatbed provided us with some extra plates to bridge this gap. Driving back and unloading went flawlessly and we set the Carina and the AE86 side by side. We unloaded on a public parkinglot as it was easier and more spacious than next to my garage. So I even were able to drive a few hundred meters in the AE86! And for now the AE86 has been parked in the garage. Next up getting it registered and checked by the RDW, which is the dutch DVLA/DMV. Before doing this I need to swap the headlamps for Dutch items and get a pair of AW11 combination indicator/parking lights. But apart from that I don't expect a lot of hassle with this car. Big thanks/shout out to Bernhard who helped me today with fetching the car. Also big thanks to B&B Expeditie for storing the car for ten days free of charge and also Pacific Coast Auto for arranging the auction/shipping to the Netherlands! 1982 - TA60 Carina 4dr sedan - fun cruiser 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
