Thermal imaging of R888s at trackday
Hey,

My car (Carina coupe) has previously been running 3.5kg spring all round, quite a stiff front bar and no rear swaybar.

Previously using AD08R, just changed to R888 as well as fitted some stiffer front springs (now 5kg)

So here's some thermal imaging results of tyres after getting back into the pits: (apology if its confusing but front tyre pics are taken from the front, rear tyres photo taken from the back)

The car felt a little more understeery with the 5kg springs in front, you can now see that this is loading up the left rear a lot.

I think from here I'll look at fitting the rear sway bar up. Was running 32psi hot all round and neg 2.2 degrees camber up front.

I found that R888 needed a bit less camber because of the stiff side walls. This also shows a your front right I would say.

Stiffer springs and sway bar will make it a bit less grippy but will reduce weight transfer so this is always a compromise. You could try mounting the rear sway to balance it out...

Did you have 32 psi all round when you took these pictures?

Sarcasme is just one of the things I offer Wink

Yeah 32psi all round.

Yeah rear swaybar seems like way to go I think.

I find the R888s feel really mushy compared to AD08R

Steering response feels really dull and less precise by comparison.

But maybe that's just because R888s take a lap or two to get up to temp.

Went to another track event over the weekend, set a new PB by almost 2 seconds quicker which was awesome.

Ran 32 hot all round, found I could pull way more brake bias into the rear which made the braking zones amazing as I've very heavily had to rely on front brakes so far.

Rear tyres were starting to overheat on the centres at 32 hot so dropped them to 30 hot but didnt get another run after that.

Front tyres were looking really well balanced with the harder springs.
