Tyrell27 Wrote:Hi, i just bought a 1987 Toyota Corolla GTS
its got the 4AGE
I was wondering if anyone knew of some ways to increase power,
It doesnt have much power at the moment and i do have a limited budget
but if anyone could let me know of some things i can do to it that would be
great thanks

- Replace air intake with APEXi filter kit (http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ for a review... dunno how well the other filters do these days, but I was pretty shocked by that review, maybe it's just a statistical anomaly?)

- Replace old worn sparkplugs
- Replace old worn sparkwires
- Replace old engine oil

- Replace exhaust with some more diameter (2.5", 60mm ish)

- Perhaps replace the exhaust header

- Perhaps replace the TVIS with ITB's

That's about it for bolt on stuff, without getting into the cams and possible ECU swap, for some easy power increases.

Did most of that list on my own engine (intake filter, sparkplugs, wires, engine oil) and the butt dyno notices a snappier response in the engine.

read the threda banpei directed you to, there are some nice links in there as well (mainly billzilla.org.... pretty nice site, especially this page might be of interest to you: http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm )

Anyways, enjoy Big Grin
