Miguel i'm burning my brain out trying to find how the hell is that oil circuit. Puh

Ok, I see too breathers coming of the camcovers, flowing to a catch tank, and I believe that from the catch tank its heading to the oil pan...

Am I right?

I just cant figure it out by the pics. I'm asking you because i'm thinking about doing the reflow of my catch tank directly to the oil pan instead of back to the intake.

By the way, what are the advantages in two breather on the camcovers?

Thanx

I think it probably is a aluminium knob, like this one:

I didn't mean that...I mean the material at the base of the "stick", where normal AE's have a rubber one...This looks something like carbon fibre but I'm quite sure it isn't...

Here's some recently taken pics. We resprayed it, to perfect the bodywork and I spent last weekend painstakingly putting it back together with all new trim parts, etc. Whatever could be replaced as part of re-assembling, was. I figure these parts won't be around much longer, so it was wise to replace them whilst I could. Even the rubber seals for the window / trim on the interior were changed. Note also the carbon wind deflectors and carbon panel below the windscreen. New items recently released here.

I've also recently fitted a few new parts in the engine bay... The PAS bottle, combined oil catch tank / expansion tank replaced the old ones - I hated that plastic reservoir tank. Also fitted a new screen washer bottle as the old one had turned yellow over 22 years or so, KMS Manifold (Fitted last year, but I have't posted a pic of it fitted till now - it's holding up very well - not cracked or given any problems but noticably improved top end power). All suspension is pillow ball now, too with Greddy's new mini 6 pot kit at the front. I've got a set of new TRD Anti roll bars to fit next weekend, as I've been running a Cusco rear with standard front till now. Might also fit a brake bias valve sometime, but it doesn't need one - might only improve brake performance a little, I guess..

So it's pretty much finished...Sure there will be small improvements to be made as I find the need for them, but I'm pleased with the results after 3 years of work during spare time on some weekends & evenings.

It's proving to be totally reliable, and despite the work that's gone into it, I'll still use it hard on the track, and have fun with it on Japan's mountain roads making kills of much more powerful cars.. I've only had to do regular maintenance on it. All the parts chosen seem to be lasting well with no quality issues and notably it's not needed any re-mapping at all. Engine still runs sweet as a nut. Aside from regular oil changes and occasionally squirting the ITB inlets with carb cleaner to remove carbon deposits and restore correct idle - I've only had to balance the throttles once, when they went slightly off tune.

Thought about cutting out the arches and making it wider, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to butcher a completely rust free body.

It's huge fun to drive. Can't get enough of it Puh

Cheers for looking!

It still is a truely amazing car! I'm really happy to see that you keept the colors the way they where Drool

Having a car with showcar finish and using it on track is crazy BUT its the only way we would want it Thumbsup But since I don't have a lot of $$ I'll build a "cheap" track car and save my rebuilt 86 for sundays and backroads...

Thnaks for the compliments.

I don't have the money nor the want to crash it - but haven't (Touch wood!) had any crashes yet on the track, aside from a few scratches to the bumpers in the past from gravel hitting them Drool So in 2 years of playing with it, I figure if I've not crashed it yet, then there's little chance I will!

When I know I've gone past the point of catching a drift, I get on the brakes hard, straighten the steering (So I don't continue spinning) and use the momentum to steer the car out of the way of others that may be coming.
I also don't drift heavily on the road (Too many pavements, lamp posts, etc. to be safe in the event something goes wrong).

I definitely don't want to waste all the effort of building it and not use it, lol.

Yeah I know nobody wants to crash their car but sometimes it happens (Let it never happen to any of us!!!).

But you are quite right about building a car and never using it... That would be a waste Exclamation And its just SO much fun to drive with the right suspension setup Cheerleader

This car is Insane. I've never seen such attention to detail on a AE86. The fact that this is a 200hp 4A-GE with Air-Con strikes me.

I wish I had the knowledge to put together such a reliable engine.

Love the color, the seats, the roll cage, the brakes, the whole engine, the dash... well, just about everything...

Congratulations! I hope you can keep on enjoying such machine.

What is your feedback on that Greddy Brake kit? Bolt on? No need to fit brake balance?

Best regards

Wow! Your car just keeps on getting better! How are the Greddys compared to the FC calipers?

I had a problem with the FC3S Callipers on my car. Even after rebuilding them with new pistons and seals, they would still bind a bit. Perhaps because the callipers were very old? I don't know - but when the Greddy 6 pot mini kit came out, I switched to them.

Braking's very good now. In a word, "Stonking". Not needed a brake bias valve at all, but I may fit one just to see if I can make it any better than it already is.

As for the exhaust manifolds, yes we can supply one for you Rossi. We've found another company that makes these works of art for AE86's considerably cheaper than those from Kimisu Racing Service (I paid close to £1,000 for mine), although they'll still be in the region of £700 delivered. This is top quality stuff, made to special order only, mind!

What discs are you running with these Greddy calipers then Miguel? And I presume the pads are a specific fit for the caliper? Does it limit your choices down or ease of getting spares at all?

It's a complete brake system from Greddy specifically designed for AE86 fitment. It even comes with braided hoses, if I remember correctly... Slotted discs are 282mm size. Pads of exact correct size are available from our favourite brand, Endless. Once I tried their CC-X compound, I haven't used anything else for performance cars.

lovely piece of car you built up there Thumbsup

2 questions:
what make are the front lower arms and how much are they? (I need 20mm more track each side to clear my increased steering angle)
and how much is such a folding number plate holder and can it be altered to fit other sizes?

Cheers Bean
