|
|
Well - finally i can oficialy start a project tread here yasterday - my Trueno has arrived Long trip from Japan - but in the end it was all worth!
First of all - will just start with a mod list - what it has inside And then - plans for it
83' AE86 GT-APEX Trueno
Ae92 Engine (not 100% sure)
HKS Filter
Master Cylinder Stopper
Front TRD Coilovers, Swift Springs, Cusco Camber Adjustable Top Mounts
Aftermarket TRD Manifold and Exhaust System
GReddy Oil Cooler
Aftermarket TRD HT Leads
Toll Centre Adapters
Aftermarket Tie Rods and Ends
Aftermarket Panhard Rods
Rear TRD Blue Shocks and Springs
Half 5 point Roll Cage
Harness
Recaro Bucket Seat
Nardi Steering Wheel
Advan Shift Knob
Omori Meters
Volk Racing wheels
Full brake system overhault
New front disks
New rear disks
New calipers
Dont know the brand of Exhaust (muffler) but by the looks of it - its somthing from a bike
Well - here how myTrueno looks:
Best View so far
And here we go - some body repairs needed - but as im not too worried about them - this will not give me a lot of headake
Seat - for some extremly small ass
And here are the places where i was expecting to find rust - but - i was disapointed Body - honestly - is IN SUPERB condition as for a 83' car
Small Greddy Oil cooler
And the engine - either its RED TOP (the old version with just the AE92 REDTOP intake manifold) or a whole engine... Ecu seems to be from AE92 so i can not still identifie engine...
Some "deep dish" 14's by HIRO LTD. called Rock Racing (WTF??? Volk racing copy?)
And one of LOTS of battle stickers it has way too much of these all over inside of the car
One new shipment of front lights arrived too today - still trying to decide - wich front end to put on it ... Trueno Vs Levin... Hmm who wins?
Here is the shot of the suspension
And finally - bunch of parts waiting to be installed
Plans? Well - first of all - body - get rid of all the damaged panels - weld in all the new stuff - fix whats is still good for fixing - get the rear arches fixed (some rust spots on them) and paint it. After this - Engine. No more N/A.. Engine goes out - gets full overhaul with GZE forged pistons (late spec) GZE rods, ARP Headsutds, cometic headgasket, ACL rod/ main bearings, brand new oil pump
After this - custom exhaust manifold + turbo (still cand decide with wich one to go... Either CT20B of VF28)
Suspensio - S13 suspension in the front, S13 rear in the back (this might happen later...)
Transmision - SXE10 Altezza tranny with custom belhousing.
Oh - and the main thing - RHD to LHD conversion Cuz its not posible to register the RHD car on the road here... So this will include custom dash and other stuff
Lots of still in mind - so keep tuned - and you will see some action

Honestly - it rand around 2900 euros including delivery / customs fees and etc... So its not that bad, if lets say compare to the Europe corollas and in waht condition you can get one for that price in EU...

Good luck with the project.

engine looks like a smallport. or they have an adapter plate on the intake side...... the ae92 non tvis manifold doesn't fit the bigport head.

i'd say trueno, but thats just cuz i Love the trueno more than the levin headlights
i mean i love the levins, but here the Trueno's are pretty rare
and retractable headlights has something classy

Anyway - i have a Metal main beam (under the dash) from other hachi + pedals from other hachi and everything else will be taken from this Donor... main thing i needed was Firewall (its bent - but will get straight up Not a problem...)
Here are some pics
Next week works should start... cuz im beggin bodyshop to start ASAp - cuz i need to work on it too
P.S. - dont care about the Dash - i will be doing my own custom one - so i dont really care about it beeing broken

Wow! That's going to be a lot of work!
I remember one member on Club4AG doing a RHD conversion on his LHD GTS, and why? Because he thought it would be more original and because he could. I'll try to find that topic once again...

Well - RHD to LHD - is not new thing for me Cuz i did liek 10 RHD to LHD conversions on 6gen Celicas, and around 20 RHD to LHD Subaru's
The biggest problem now is to get the firewall straight again, today i had some time and removed it out, trashed all the unneeded parts So now im gonna give firewall to my Bodyshop guys to get it repaired.
Mess in a garage
And finally - firewall and all the needed mettal parts removed
After firewall get into its original shape - its going to get fully sanded, all the rusted places fixed, and will be ready for use

Keep it Trueno mate, don't see many of them around, especially for sale too, there mainly Levin's for sale, so keep it the way it came from factory, and even though the accident damage, lucky to get one with hardly any rust. Nice project.

Yea, its gonna stay trueno for a while - cuz the Levin front end that i got - is in Horible shape... Compared to the original Trueno parts that are on the car - these parts are basicly like new (NO RUST AT ALL)... So i decided to get the Trueno front fixed.

It's nice when there's no rust on older cars, that has less rust on it than my 96 Corsa.

That is very clean Doggy underneath. No sings of anything being repaired??? As if ya look under my Corsa, I have two metal plates welded on the front of my chassis legs where it rusted away. But yours is looking very clean, just keep looking after it once it's been repaire.

That sounds like a good buy there doggy, and to get that one rim to match the rest won't be that hard.

Going by the inlet manifold being cut and shut, small port AE92 4ag.
Also to note, front bumper shown in one of the pic's is a kouki (late model) trueno bumper. one for sale locally for me is asking $1200!!
Good looking car, as you say needs work, but then again, if you wanted one that didn't need work you would have paid 2-3 times what you paid, and prob found dodgy repairs in the future anyway.
I like the redlines too. .
Got a fair bit of negative camber from the NRCA's on the front too, camber tops are zero'd off and still got quite a bit.
