1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 (early US)

PostPosted: Sun May 02, 2010 6:22 am    Post subject: it keep dying on me Reply with quote

ok so this is my first question, i have a 1985 sr5 with the 4a-c engine, and the problem is that after it gets to operating temp if i let go of the gas while in neutral the car dies just like if shut it off with the key, i keep thinking is the carburetor but then again i think it could be electrical because it does not sputter when it dies, any ideas as to what could be wrong with my car Crying or Very sad ?

A leaking carburator gasket could be causing this. Had the same problem a while ago..

You could buy a second one at the junkyard for $20 or something and rebuild that one. After rebuilding you can swap it for your current carb. Smile
