Another AE86 north of the arctic circle!

I've been plowing thru thread after thread in here since I got my 1987 Levin hatchback a few weeks ago. These cars are insanely expensive here in Norway, but I just couldn't resist getting one after watch hour after hour of Video Option, Drift Tengoku, Hot Version AE86 Club etc etc.

There are no suitable tracks up where I live for drifting, but I want to keep my Levin as a winter / drift car, and my SW20 MR2 Turbo (I put a gen3 3S-GTE in it - in fact I think it's the only legal rebuild in Norway with this engine...) as a summer car. The plan is also to bring the Levin to track 3 times a year 4 hours from here.

The plan is to get the suspension right first, then I'll se what I can do with the engine. I see alot of really great project threads in here where people strip the car completely, fix all the rust, spotweld reinforcements, repaint every part etc etc... and I think I'll never get that far with my Levin, but who knows. It looks like it needs some rust work unfortunately, but I've seen worse! Check out the rusty area in the left side engine compartment.
And my alternator died a few days ago Sad

Anyways, my Levin, just as my MR2, was imported from Switzerland Smile

, so maybe someone knows it, but it might be hard to tell since it's been (poorly) repainted.

From what I can tell this one actually has Apex springs and yellow (long stroke) KONI's, but surprising amount of rust on the shocks.

Bit weird: most people don't use their hachi as winter car. But then again they don't have a MR2 as summer car either! Puh

I had about the same amount of rust on my red-konis... That's probably quite natural for them after a few years abuse with salty roads. Wink
