Well, both engines are A series, so the head fits... I know 16v heads have been put on 20v bottoms, however I wouldn't put a 20v on a non 20v bottom: the 20v has some differences in holes for oil transportation so you would be blocking a few of them...

You can see the differences on the head gaskets:
AE86 : Projects > 20v head in 4ac block its posible
top one is 20v and bottom one is 16v.

But that's only my opinion from a theoretical point of view...

thanks for the info!

yeah, but if i change the gasket and put a 20v gasket?

i think if in the age 16v you can put a 20v head, in my sr5 too. I saw in forums a 4ac with a 16v head and fits ok

i found a picture of one 20v block, and i compare with my 4ac block, looks the same!!

wat you think?¿ im crazy? jeje

every hole are in the same place

Interesting project!
But is the block of the 4ac good to keep with safety the power of 20v?

Toymods has a number of threads about putting a 20v head on an older block. The 4ac and 4age blocks are identical apart from number of support ribs and oil squirters, neither of which will affect what you're trying to do.

Wow! Amazing amount of rust! I almost dare not to ask about the state of the floorpan! Embarassed

To answer your question: yes most holes are there and some of the 20v holes are wider. It would work of course, but don't expect wonders from the engine.

Dont do it mate. t crank design is not the same, its weaker, same as rods and pistons.

Wow Beto, esto es un gran proyecto en el que te metes.

Hopefully this will come out pretty good and you'll make it work, but listen to what this guys are telling you: don't rev it too hard and don't expect wonders from the engine... those 2 phrases let me thinking...

good luck anyway! Buena suerte!

Thumbsup

saludos

well, i have news!

i buy a 4age red top head!!!

i want to put this head in my 4a (c) block, i read that the 4a block its the same for all , its the same of the first generation of 4age blue top, with conrods and crank (40), but the crank has six bolts only.

well, for now i only put de head in the block, and it fits perfect, in a few weeks i star the project, and i promise photos of this "swap" jajaja

sorry for my english!

Wow that is one insane project, I've seen it done before so it must work. Are you changing the crank too? Or just the pistons?

Checkout my SR5 to GT-S project.....

Right now I'm still posting stuff but keep an eye on it you might learn as I learn LOL!
