Never mind, I read the whole post. Being that those flares are for a 13 inch rim, how extensive would the modifications be to be able to fit a 15 inch wheel properly? Or would i just be able to find a set that has already been altered. But, my question still stands. Where will I be able to get the "modified TRD N2 body kit"?

Hi there, The moulds that I have are for the original shape , yes there is a company here in my city that makes a modified N2 kit for larger wheels along with alot of other ae86 parts. If you pm your email address I will send you their contact details, shipping from New Zealand maybe expensive but the current exchange rate will work in your favour .

Another update on a bit of work done , a window demister is essential in this country when racing in the rain so the standard heater box had everything inside it removed and modified the internal flow with light weight aluminum sheet, then attached a lightweight blower from a marine shop to push the air through it
AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

The intake of the blower will take the air from the original place that the normal heater used. All this has ended up very light .
I also started on the lay out for the wiring , as the Stack dash is a stand alone unit ,this simplified the dash wiring .The standard wiring loom was stripped apart to find anything useful.(front, dash, and rear loom)

This is what I threw away

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

And this is what I kept .

And a very high power battery without a lot of weight
AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

Wiring can be a bit frustrating as a lot of planning is required to keep everything as simple as possible , with wires running the tidiest way possible

Well progress has been rather slow as work has been full on , managed to drag out the rally car for a blast around the race track last weekend to see if I could remember how to drive .
I have finally had the dash made and fitted it up , cut out and fitted the stack dash in as well .

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

I have also had a change of mind on the seat and have gone for a head restraint seat , I had to get this made as a special by the manufacturer here in NZ as the standard design would not fit ,It is not period looking like the Bride seat but my safety is more important !

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

And while I was at it I have changed the Takarta belts for a set of HANS compatible belts as well, note the rubber grip on the shoulder strap to help hold the HANS in place

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

Also have done a bit of work on the fuel system as I had to change the main pump to a high pressure and add a return line as well to run the injection set up. A few more earls fittings ! Just waiting for the Bosch fuel pump bracket to arrive and also one to hold the filter in place as well .

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

I have ordered a new set of 460cc Bosch injectors that should be here this week and then I can fit up the throttle bodies and fuel rail to finish the fuel lines , here is the air box that I am having a copy made in carbon fibre at the moment

AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

Also folded up a center console dash panel today from aluminum to use as a template for a carbon one to mount the 3 remote reservoirs to as well

Nice dash/seat/belts/airbox. Oh, and the stack. I really want one... Sad haha

What are the dimensions on that airbox, if you don't mind? It would be nice to get the length, width at the back, front, height, and the diameter of the inlet. Thanks!

Hi there , I am currently away with work so will measure the air box when I return , it does have a 4'' inlet , and was originally made for a front drive car but will fit my application nicely.

Hi you can buy a Stack from any distributor in your country , have a look on their website
http://www.stackltd.com/prod1.html#data

Expect to pay between $1500 -$5000USD dependent on what you want it to do, or there is the Motec version that is made in your country that is run in the V8 Supercars.

Awesome progress! Would love to see you bring it down to Ruapuna when its done sometime!

I was wondering if you wouldnt mind sharing a few details on your shed? Im looking to building a totalspan kitset shed of around 7x12m, and yours looks like a good example. What size is it? how do you find the layout for working? What is the stud height?

Cheers
Logan

Thanks for the comments, I just hope there is still some fossil fuel left in the world by the time I finish it! Hampton Downs circuit is making more progress each week so they may win!
My workshop is 14 x 9 m and it works well with 3 bays, with the hoist at one end.I also have another shed of 8 x 7m as well and they both are toy boxes with no work stuff in them. The stud height is 4.5m and about 5.5 at the ridge .Build as big as you can afford and then leave room on the end to extend it when you have filled it full of Toyota's! Warning the more space that you have the more you collect !!!. Smile

I knew there was something that I was going to measure up ! Will do that later tonight .

Spent this week end fitting the new seat in with some new mounts that I made up to fit this seat forward and now have a good comfortable seating position , I still have to alter the gearstick slightly as I sit quite a long way back .
AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

Also I finished the fuel lines again ! ,this time for injection, new fuel pressure requlator , return line , and fuel rail .
AE86 : Projects > nzae86s TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2

Picked up my airbox this week as well and set to drilling holes in it !

This blower is a TMC brand and its air flow is 122CFM , I just went to the local marine shop and purchased this as a bilge blower for use in a boat. The old heater box I gutted everything out of it and made new baffles inside it to direct the air through the heater core ,and only out the top to the windscreen .Then used some aluminum to make a plate for the end and mounted the blower to it.The intake for it is through a plastic bend and draws air from outside through the original place under the dash.
Hope this is useful !
