Ha ! I don't have a calculator with enough numbers on it!
I have a bit of an idea what this is cost but I try not to think about it, it may well be enough to get the world out of recession !!!

Well the work carries on with this , as I had a problem with the TRD dry sump pan sitting on the steering rack and wanting to keep the motor as low as possible the front crossmember was due for a tune up !
I should have taken some photos before painting it but as you can see now the rack sits lower than the top of the crossmember and still looks original.
The next area to work on while waiting for the body will be the fuel system, tank and diff cooler .

I am still waiting for the paint work to be completed , I called in to my painter yesterday and the body is all painted on the outside (forgot the camera!) and will be finished this week, I hope ! I will have the red and orange details on the body done in vinyl.
This has given me a chance to catch up on some more small details again.
All the parts arrived this week for rebuilding the steering rack with all new parts and fitting up the Quaife quick rack
A few more parts came back from the electroplaters as well , gearbox cross member with a cusco transmission mount
Also I sent the drysump tank in for polishing as it didn't look that good in blue
The fuel pumps and diff pump have been sorted where they work the best , just need to fold up a couple of small brackets and weld into place.
I also removed the foam from inside the tank and fitted the fuel sender and also another an fitting to the top of the tank , as I used the original breather fitting as a return line to keep the aerated fuel away from the outlet the the fuel pump .
Working out of town during the week so that doen't help with progress but does help pay the bills!

Finally some more progress , working out of town does not help ,and the weekend are rather short !
the diff housing has been sand blasted and the pickup for the diff pump cooler has been added , the return feeds the oil directly on to the pinion through the diff head
Today the body shell was ready to collect and it has come up much better than I expected , the paint work is fantastic
Also the mail man dropped off my wheels today so I will finish assembling them tomorrow then get the slicks fitted up .
They are local built 13" x 9 for the rears and 13" x 8 for the front
and front slicks at 215 and rears at 240 wide
At least now it may feel like I am going forward with this money pit!!!

Well with cold weather and rain the best place to stay dry is inside your workshop , today was spent sorting out the lay out for the sign writer to come and fit the coloured vinyl hopefully this week .All I can use for a reference of shape and size is the few pictures of the TRD car that are available

Sure but the way time tends to fly by on projects I may still be working on it!!
There has been a few times that I have thought of pushing it in the corner and forgetting that I own it for a while .

The paintwork looks very nice and shiny! Is the gray paint metallic or just a very high gloss regular gray?
One Hot Version video had a nice video clip of the TRD N2 car rolling almost perpendicular past the camera so I took several screengrabs and stitched them together in Photoshop to get a detailed picture of the TRD livery to take measurements from.
Funny how they mirror some of the logos on one side of the car.

Hi there
The paintwork has been done in a base coat, clear coat system with a silver metallic and a 2 pack white for the other areas , a lot of work went into painting the inside around all the rollcage etc
The picture of the ORC car that you have I think is a car that has been built after the TRD cars , so maybe they copied it from photos or the original, remember the TRD cars were built in 1985. You can see that the wheel flares are also a complete different shape to take 15 inch wheels and they have been pushed further out from the body work to take a wider wheel as well .
Hows your project coming along ?

Hey Steve
always love checking up on the progress of your car. It's good to see another guy doing a real proper job of it in NZ. I still have mine up on the spit in the garage after finishing the underside, will have to get back out there and start doing some more work.
a couple more of pics the trd car

here is another one:
the rally version w/o the n2 over-fenders shows better where the lines should go.

Thanks for the pictures , I hope I have the shape correct I will find out when I get home tomorrow after working away all week, as the sign writer is going to do my car today .
Luck would have it we have a 3 day weekend, so after catching up on some jobs at home I will be able to spend some time bolting things together.

Well I came home to I nice surprise that the colour and shapes were exactly what I wanted , so tomorrow I will have my tires fitted up to the rims that I sealed together tonight , and start fitting up the body work . Here is a couple of pictures of it so far
I will get the same guy to do the rest of the TRD stickers and windscreen banner when the car is finished
