|
|

Im rebuilding my 101gze.....what happened to it you ask? i finished blowing the doors of a 350z on the highway.....3 car lengths you dont need alot hp to get around these new cars...lol...well when i got 5 mins from home it started to make noises ..clicking & clacking .. i was like oooooooh shyt she's dying lol....but i knew ...it needed a rebuild just needed an excuse to do it...... + $$$$$$$$$
im shooting for a good street able gze...i cant be wasting money ..blowing rears and constantly buying tires...lol -$
at least over 200whp i would like ......last dyno was 145whp psi unknown at that time... i did some work to it.... so i know i was pushing more hp....before it went.....im guessing 160-170whp? @ 10psi cracking 11 in the winter
MY 1986 Corolla GTS aka (Black Prophet ((The Hunter)) 13th Apostle....

old pic
stuff i acquired so far
Greddy emanage
Cusco 14psi pulley
CX racing front mount
thinking of doing?
port & polish
256 cams + gears
3 angle valve job
what else you guys suggest?????
im open for suggestions..................
ok lets get to work............what i suggest before removing the motor...
1 buy tape & a marker for labeling plus a white paint marker for dark surfaces
2 remove f.bumper grill & headlights for easy access plus less of a chance of things getting damaged...
3 have a lot of space, good tools, & speedy dry cuz things are going to get messy!
well my friends & i started to take her apart.....to see what actually happen to her
1st problem we ran into was the wire harness & vacuum lines....gze's are spaghetti when it comes to that..............solution label everything!!!... we pulled out the entire main harness to make things easier for labeling .....i seen hoses and wires i never lay eyes on before............lol well some of that is the Greddy e manage, boost gauge & oil pressure...hopefully can achieve type of wire tuck
2nd problem we had was the engine didn't want to separate from the tranny but with a little finessing we got it separate...a whole 30min....stubborn......lol
and when started taking the clutch out...............damn! clutch dust all over the place
stick a fork in it........done!! work the clutch to the bone.....
well here is the motor.....and yes that is an MR-2 bracket & alternator bought new almost $400 from dealer....I originally had the jdm set up....power steering ac pump alt....but the bracket snap...and i couldn't source one...so i opt for the MR-2
will post more pics as i go on.............

looks like I am looking into a magazine lol. Good job on the car. If you want your 4agze to push around 200 hp you will need to do some serieus head rework and get a set of good cams.
Let me start with the basics. DON"T take high duration cams as a SC or turbo engine should not rev to high. Take high lift cams with a duration at a max of 272. (rather 264) and like 10mm lift with underbucket shims.
Then your engine can really start pushing it. you will have to toss away the standard ecu.

Hey!
I have bad experiences with aftermarket bearings... I'd advise you to buy original toyota, or TRD ones!
None of the aftermarket bearings has size selection in the base (48/42) size. So you can't equalize the clearances.
The other things are seems to be good! You'll have a nice engine

well you could have different cams. I am running 262 9mm lift and 256 8.5 mm lift. These are more aggressive in opening which should be perfect for a GZE.
Regarding your setup, I pretty lost it? Are you building a 20V SC or a 16v SC?
And take a trd or hks head gasket because the amount of pressure will go up with different cams and a SC.
Small tip: upgrade your rear brakes. You just fucked up your brake balance for front and back. Considering the amount of money you pumping in I assume you spot welded most of the chassis already? That should increase stiffness a lot

im building ae101 4agze 16v
going for more reliable street tune 256 8.1 mm lift in/ex
the brakes im just going to add rear steal braided lines and get better quality pads/rotors...project mu im guessing
i have f/r strut braces...thinking of getting a underbody brace and cusco roll cage....that should be decent
i havent found any one yet that has the know how to do spot welding correctly

Hey Driftmaster,
I wanted to know where do you check for the SC oil levels as I can't see where on the picture please?
BTW - Nice sexy car buddy...
I'm buzy with my 4AGZE conversion into my AE92 FWD and would like to check the oil of the SC beofre I start the motor up or even install it...I think that going through your project it inspired me to rather not be too hasty and just put it in, but rather to clean the parts before doing anything further...

how did you fit the origional IC on your block..
you simply welded on some other custom runners?
Great topic though

all oem parts fit perfect....all you have to do is cut a small notch on the hood support frame ..so it wont hit the i/c.....and lift the hood at the back with washers or bolts to get a 1/2 inch...this will the the engine bay breathe easier
the custom runners i added ..to reduce the oem original bends & smaller piping.....
