Cheers for the compliments Smile

It's still all AE86. Just that virtually none of the mechanical components are original, lol! It's a little bit loud, but apparently that's good for intimidating other people out of the way, lol.

Mr. Doricar, I'm looking forward to your visit to Tokyo. We'll have to see if we can get mosqiton to come out to play... His missus has recently given birth to a little girl, so he's a bit of a zombie right now - but even though he didn't get any sleep last night, he told me he'd been out for a drive in his '86 during his lunch hour, today - to get a buzz...

Reckon you could meet us half way at Ebisu circuit for a drift Matsuri this summer? I'd like to get a whole load of us with AE86's there for a weekend of track fun, barbeque and a few beers. 22 hours of circuit time on any of the track there. Should be awesome Thumbsup

Keep August 6th open too. There's usually some events on each year. 7/7/7 was awesome last year too Very Happy

Not really seen much happen in the past during Golden week. It's traditionally time to visit the parents, etc. for the Japanese. Not sure what what we're doing this year. Maybe just chilling..

Miguel, if you are ever heading over to Hakone let me know.
I'm living in Atsugi, Kanagawa at the moment and would love to see your car.
Unfortunately my 86 is parked up in the UK but I have a S15 in Japan to run around in.

Had no problems with them at all, even at Fuji Circuit's main track they worked very well, although the pedal did get (only slightly) spongy after about 4 laps of very hard use - I do mean VERY hard (ab)use (Chasing a well tuned & caged S2000 on S tyres) - whilst the '86 wore street sports tyres (Potenza RE-01R's).

Sometimes we go to Hakkone but not usually in the AE86, but you might be better off meeting a bunch of us at Daikoku Futo from 9pm.

We're there once a month for a meet of Gaijins with their cars and there's usually some nice machines and a lot of friendly faces there.
Next time will be 10th June and I hear that's the day the Datsun 510's also plan to meet up. I'll be taking the 86 there, assuming it's back from having a gearbox synchro refresh and other maintenance at TPS.

Hakkone's a nice place to live with access to Fuji's toll roads & circuit whilst still relatively close to Tokyo...Up in the hills there's less heat and humidity in the summer too Smile

It surprises me that you got the brakes to fade after just 4 laps.. Do they ship with low-temp street pads or were you using some plain jane braking fluid? Shouldn't really be happening on such a light car with street tires..

"slightly spongy".
I didn't say brake fade nor only 4 laps and I wasn't having to pump the brakes, or anything like that mate. Fuji's a tough circuit on brakes and I've seen a fair few use the run off area at the end of the pit straight.

The tussle with that tuned S2000 was during the last 10 mins at the end of a 30 minute session (With a couple of cool down laps in between).

Brake fluid was changed just the day before going to the track, it's Endless brand, I forget the specs.
Also since fitted Endless CC-X which are an improvement over the Greddy pads.

Was having huge fun with the S2K. I'd catch him on corners and manage to nip through a couple of times, but at the end of the pit straight (Where you can get to max speed) he was about 2-3 car lengths ahead. I could still brake from pushing hard in 4th gear, down to 2nd for the hairpin and make up space on the brakes against the S2K & other cars when they got proper hot. Pads were close to the end of their life at the time.. (Those originally supplied with the kit).

Made me giggle when I looked at it closely as he pulled into the pits. Very low, camber at each corner, new S tyres, cage, etc. and still the AE86 was up his butt.... E36 M3, etc. were toast! Evil or Very Mad

Cheers buddy.

Sadly my 8 year old DV camera lost it's sound that track day, so I didn't keep the tape, which would have been fun to see...but there will be other times.

Huge fun! that circuit's feckin' awesome... and so safe (It's been rebuilt in the last 3 years and now there's huge run off areas).
With practice I want to get quicker, as I know I wasn't always following the right lines (Following the S2000 helped Smile) Can't wait to get another chance to get out there.

Thanks. It's a Boudo Nouki (Means Grape Vine in Japanese). Although the rear bumper matches it, that's from another maker - Jubiride. Skirts are original.

Went drifting at Nikko Circuit with some friends on 25 June, some drifted, some made a BBQ, some just ate all day Very Happy. Had lots of fun A few of their pics.

On the way back home...

AE86 : Projects > Newera Imports 200 bhp NA AE86 Progress Report

Now spending evenings getting it ready to go to Yamanashi for a track event with 10 friends and their cars and a day's instruction from Tomohiko Sunako - a professional Super GT race driver. Cars attending will, range from a humble "08 Eunos Roadster, right up to Mine's and Top Secret tuned R34 GT-R's making 600 - 700 bhp...
I reckon the little 200 bhp AE86 might to frighten the GT-R's as they struggle with turbo lag... It's a smallish circuit Smile

Sunako's also bringing his full race prepared Civic for us to test - The top drivers of the day will be invited to share a drive for a full-on 12 hour endurance race at Ebisu in August! Can't wait to have a go in that, should be a monster for corners. Pics will follow later.

I think I see you and the Levin popping up every two or three weeks on speedhunters. Wink

Thanks for the heads up Banpei Thumbsup

Wish someone would take a pic of the wheel high up in the air when the rear's on the cambered bank... I'm pretty sure it gets higher...

A friend was telling me it was hard to shoot though, as often other cars are right in the way of the cameras.. Oh well, there will be other times Smile

Our staff member Dai Chan was testing his Panda Trueno for the first time with the new black top 20V he's recently finished installing.. Car was going well. Having previously drifted with a standard 4AGE engine, he's a master of using the handbrake to chuck it in early...with the new added benefit of having power too... This week he's talking about fitting some wild cams to it.... Evil or Very Mad - Good man!

Mosqiton drove there with his wife & new baby - had a great time, improving rapidly considering this was only his 3rd day drifting on a track. He was saying the new pillow ball control arms we've specially commissioned made a massive difference to the control of the rear at speed - Much easier to feel what the car's doing and enter a slide. We'll all soon have them fitted, just waiting for a special batch to be delivered. I'll post some pics of them later... The quality makes other stuff look puny Very Happy
