Hello!
I have possibility to buy individual throttle bodies to my 4age and I need your help. How much hp (about) it gives? What are other advantages? Better response to accelleration?
I must know before buy if this really worth it Wink Very Happy
Thanks a lot!

Hi there
On my car which I ran on the dyno before and after fitting quad throttles , I gained no more hp overall but more mid range power . Keep in mind you will probably have to run an aftermarket computer as well

You will definitely have better throttle response. To gain a respectable amount of hp, you will have to change ECU, camshafts and exhaust to match the ITB's setup. An increase to engine compression will give you even more power, and together with a good header you can reach about 200hp (with "huge" camshafts of course... Cool ). And don't forget the sound! Man this sound is so awesome, that is a good reason to go for ITB's!!! Thumbsup

My 4age 16V is allready fully tuned. I've got:
-lightened flywhell
-really, really high compression (I'm not mechanic, but I know that the header is planned or something Puh and I've got about 16bars)
-exhaust is also customed

It had aftermarket computer (SMT6) but it was making a lot of trouble and now it's just standard.

Yeah, SOUND!!! Very Happy I can just imagine how it will sound! (if now is really great!)

200hp?? You think so?? But propably with a lot o troubles and problems :/

I've seen ITB produce 10-12 HP through out the power band.

This would be a reasonable expectation. ITB's will flow more air due to
the "cleaner" design of the intake. And since the air path to each cylinder
is identical, you can tune more aggressively, rather than having to tune
to the leanest cylinder.

The cool sound and improved throttle response are a bonus Smile Smile

Cheers... jondee86

I agree, they wouldn't give massive HP gains but better mid range and off course the noise!! Vid of my 4AGE with ITB's and standalone ECU.

Wow! Shocked Great project! MG + 4age that's just awsome!

What ECU you're using? (and how much did you payed for that Puh) It was a lot of problems with my SMT6 (it was losing maps when acu was not connected), that's why now is standard one.

I run a Perfectpower, XMSL, it was about 500quid GBP and does everything well, nothing fancy, but works ok for me, I have fitted it to another car aswell, no probs.

if you need any info let me know.

longer stacks = more midrange torque
shorter stacks = more hp @ higher RPMs, but you'll lose bottom
short stacks inside original plenum + stock intake = hp and torque gain @ midrange

200 bhp takes $$$$ AND knowledge / tallent Wink. I woudn't say it's easy for the home DIY tuner to make a 4AGE engine that powerful.

It definitely needs knowledge and LOTS of skills, for sure it's not easy, but it's totally possible to do!
