|
|
hey guys first things first im pretty new, and actualy my car isent a AE-86 (unfortunately) its an AE-92 fwd, but i cant find any forums for my car, and i fugure we share the same motor, so why not ask you guys for help.
i just got my car running again (with your guyses help) it had been sitting for a lil while maybe a month or so. when i got it to run it was doing fine, shifting perfectly and everything was ok. but out of nowhere with out any warning signs, as im driving along my car just stops shifting into 3rd and 4th gear. it was just fine befor, never slipped or ANYTHING
it will "click" into 3rd but as soon as i pop the clutch it shoots out of gear and if i try to force it in, it just makes a horrable grinding sound. and it wont even go into 4th at all, its like 4th isent there anymore. 1st 2nd 5th and reverse work fine.
I checked the oil, all good and brand new.
HELP! thank you

Before you pull the box out, check the linkage from the gearlever to the box. Something may have moved slightly.
I'm not familiar with the AE92 gearbox setup, but I had a similar problem on the wife's Fiesta, a few years ago.
It just needed a slight adjustment at the gearbox end, and all was well again.

Hmm,
The important bit for Hachi's is that the oil isn't GL5 but GL4 oil. GL5 has some additive that eats away the synchros, atleast so I've been told.
No idea if this also goes for the AE92...

ok, so i havent yet takin it apart to check it all out. but now ALL the gears are messed up. the clutch pedal is hard to push in now. it wont go into 1st, 2nd is real hard to get it into, and when i take off (in second) there is a whining, scraping sound. also if i have the clutch pedal pushed in while it is in gear, in tryes to take off on its own as if i were letting off the clutch.
does anyone have any idea whats goin on? maybe my clutch is going out?

Yup.... sure sounds like your clutch is fcuked !!!!!
But first, check that the clutch slave cylinder isn't seized. Check there
is fluid in the clutch reservoir... look for leaks... get someone to work
the pedal while you are under the car watching the slave. If it does
not move freely back and forwards, replace the slave. If that doesn't
cure the problem....
Get under there and get the gearbox out... while you are replacing
the clutch you can spin the gearbox by hand and see if it jams up in
the gears. If so, it will need to be stripped and repaired.
Cheers... jondee86
