Banpei,

Thats just to scare away the people who are going to drift around every corner taking parts of the grass away and making loads of noise.

Getting through the tight hairpins you'll oversteer slightly anyways and if it turns into a drift from time to time they don't mind much.

They did give us some hard words about the grass before we even started though, they had put new grass in so getting off the track into the grass would really not be tolerated.

That said, at one point I did drive over the grass.... hmmmm Wink

You probably didn't notice the smiley Puh Puh Puh

Crying or Very sad

Wish I could have been there to play along with you guys. Its my own stupid fault for not finishing this damned masters thesis so I can start earning money...

Nice drive by both Mux and especially Robo. 1 second of the pace of a tuned Opel Speedster is really an amazing achievement by both car and driver.

Offcourse I'll kick your ass next time I'm out Puh
Maybe arrange for an evening to start work on our own cars? Might be "gezellig".

Damir,

I'll pass on the tinkering with cars for the time being:( Maybe one or two evenings helping people out but right now with almost being a father, I have other responsibilities. Lelystad for now was the last event for me aswell. I'll pick up the pase again halfway/end of Juli I think. Plenty of things todo on both Hachi and Volvo...

Robo's times were very good especially considering he had rarely driven my car before. Only the speedster and MR2 were faster, the speedster having alot more HP on a much lighter chassis, and the MR2 driving on slicks.

The MR2 did faster laps in the morning session but never finished a lap without knocking over pions (or whatever they are called).

That said, I found it amazing that Rohl driving the MR2 was able to put down times so close to the Speedster. The MR2 had its suspention and slick tires going for it, but at the same time the engine wasn't tuned and probably giving only 80 or 90% of its original output while the speedster is brand new.
The final times don't show it to well because his fastest laps he kept hitting a pion but those laps did show he could do such times. The pion he hit usually where at the end chicane added to take the speed out of the cars.

Well, the tires alone are good for 3 - 4 seconds, depending on the course layout. Power is nice to have, but putting it to the ground is infinately more important. So I think that the MR2 vs Speedster times are about right. Its the AE86 on streettires that is the odd one out here, the car alone should be about 2 to 3 seconds behind in raw speed.
