Still waiting for people to post the first pictures, went out to Zandvoort today for some nice track driving. Finally got to try the Hachi out on the track with the new setup (shortstroke suspension, RCAs, mintex brakes, etc.).

Had great fun, emptied a complete tank of gas!! Also if I may believe my mates around I would say I improved a lot in my driving.

The cars handling right now us unbelievable, car felt solid, predictable, and fast. I really like the setup I have now and don't think I'll be changing it. Only fixing the car up more (altenator seems to be dying and LSD needs to be swapped) but this suspension is great.

Also great to finally try out the Mintex pads on the track and they didn't let me down at all, they met all expectations I had....

Hey Art,

I can be wrong but from the look of that (no sandbox and rubber wall), thats the corner after gerlag or something. You have the big tarzan turn after the long straight, then the small gerlag turn, and then 180 degrees turn that ends uphill. That surely is a turn you can drift nicely but no, I did not drift yesterday.

That said, all understeer behaviour that used to be in my car is gone now. I had several situations where the back started sliding, especially the corner before the Audi-S I had some nice moments. Very interesting in this is that the car no longer suddenly drifts into an uncontrollable drift, some quick steering inputs was all I needed to keep the car going where I wanted it to go. All felt very very natural and well balanced.

I want to get some more experience and get my diff fixed first before I start experimenting some more with sliding. Yesterday would have been excelent for giving it a try because I went into corners several times with nobody even near me so...

Maybe next time:)

Sure was an interesting evening yesterday. Too bad that neither we, nor the car were ready to go to the track. So everyone ended up doing just a lap or two to get a taste of the circuit, before having to go through the complicated process of getting the thing onto a rusty old 60hp trailer *again*.

Mux' hachi looked real good from the outside. Higher pace through the corners and a more composed car too. Seems the new suspension has really improved things. Wouldn't be surprised if you shaved about 5 secs from your laptimes.

Our trueno needs a lot of work now. Brakes didn't fade, but the neg-camber made braking into the hairpin after the straight a scary thing. Something we'll need to sort out in the future. Suspension was out of whack anyway since we had to adjust the coilovers to get it onto the trailer. No time to make adjustments meant that we went onto the track with the whole thing still in rallye mode.

Oh well, better planning next time..

Sure was a beautifull day out there yesterday.. too bad the turbo didnt perform too well. What a joy it would have been to drive the volvo around there for 2 hours with so little traffic to worry about.

Apart from the horrid suspension setup at the moment, the engine is getting fuelcuts everytime it starts to get interesting. Methinks it might have been setup for use with the german ron100 fuels since the engine pulled great on the fuel that it came with....if the engine has a knock sensor it would probably cut back on fuel/timing.
Anyhoo.. this was pretty annoying, you can pull up to just about any car out there, and then the engine will cut out before it has even started making some real power. Another problem was that the car was bouncing and shaking so badly that I couldnt see a damn thing in the rear view mirrors.. so I had to rely on my ears to spot upcoming cars trying to pass.

Hats off too mux.. the two paxlaps I drove along with him showed some good and controlled driving. You've got the hang of the track better than I have, and the car feels like a dream to drive even in the passenger seat.
