Hahaha, the question on all initial D fans mind:)

Search on initial D world on google, there some info there. In a nutshell, the TV series is based on the strip series. The strip series currently is only 2 'episodes'/'books' whatever their called ahead of the TV series and there is one book comming out every half year. So it will take a year or two before there is enough comic book written before there is enough material to continue the TV series.

The only option for making a 5th stage at the moment is to do a TV series that is no longer based on the comic books.

Hmmm,

I wonder if that will work with initial D. From what I know the writer of the series has alot of artistic control over the TV series and the series has a very loyal fan base that may not tolerate such an act and I think they know that.

That said, what probably would work is a spin off series, whow knows a series about the Sil80 or about Wataru's levin... There is great potential there with great freedom. Heck might be nice idea for fan project even:D

They already did that with the Sil80: Another Stage was never in the comic book. However SS may have had some story writing on that one... Should find the episodes and have a look Wink

I know... But it was more or less to indicate the directors already decided to do a story on their own. Wink

But I've looked up the progress on the manga and I just saw volume 33 for sale which means it took 9 months to create volume 33. In this rate it will take another three years to make a new stage. Crying or Very sad

I've read somewhere that SS was working on a sort of special Manga Edition that would be enough of a book to base a movie on it without siding too far off from the plotline. No clue where it would fit in with the existing series, but Apolan's suggestion of a Stage-3-like film would fit the profile perfect. I wouldn't mind it at all, I loved the third stage and in a way it really is cheating your way out of having to wait for every episode for a month, or at least delaying it until you watch the movie enough times for it to get old... =)

Sounds nice!!

I'm still hoping Takumi goes on vacation to Europa someday and drifts the Nurburgring or something.. Awell can only dream I guess...Wink

(seriously though, I think it would be a great story arc if a top driver from outside of Japan would be mixed into the story somehow)...
