Where? In the UK? In Europe? In Japan? In the world?
In Holland we made an estimate it was less than the 200 sold here.

I was thinking uk/europe (well not so much UK, I know they are rarer than rocking horse poop here)

Well, people getting difficulty selling horse poop then: I hear complaints about getting too many imported into the UK and Mykkk's Trueno doesn't get sold after half a year.
Anyway, dunno. Perhaps organizing a count per country: then we have a nice figure how many probably are still on the road. But that is only an estimate.

Was that the red Trueno?
If i remember it was a lot of money (or I might be thinking of another one, I look at so many)
Maybe the 'price' bubble is on the verge of bursting? I have noticed that the price of S13's are going up as drift fever tightens its grip, £3k+ hachis are not economical to get into drifting with, but £700 S13's now theres another matter.
The point of all this is simple, I have been talking to loads of people after i missed out on getting my Hachi last year and almost everyone has advised me to import it from europe.
I would prefer a UK one but like I say, rare and out of my pocket!

The example:
Mykkk: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic.php?t=1600
He is looking for a bid above 5000 pounds at the moment. He wanted 7500 at first. It is a lot, but the car itself is in top condition.
Perhaps it is indeed a bubble which is about to burst. Prices in Holland also raised the past year: everybody wants to sell for over 3000 euros (which is cheap compared to UK prices).
Also as you said: the Silvia's are going up in prices. I've seen several for sale with comments it's a mean driftmachine.

Croatian police have 16 AE86 cars in their registry. 5 of the are mine.
We know for 10pcs that are on the road and driving.

Yes thats the one, I agree it is absolutley beautiful. however 5k will buy you a LOT of car (and yes, I know all about the 'aura' of owning a Hachi ...belive me I know!) the thing is with cars like this around with those sort of price tags, its only going to push the prices down I think. A skyline was sold on JCC for £1800, and an R32 GTST-4 was for sale at £2500, just think what sort of car that would be with an extra £3500 spent on it!

Its werid, half of me wants it to burst and bring the price down to something I can afford, so (at long long last) I can have one for my very own, but half of me hopes that Hachi's stay very 'exclusive' so people will want to care and look after them, and preserve them for as long as possible. I am torn (I am also amazed how emotional I can get over these bloody cars!!!!!)

yup and as people destroy them as they learn to drift, the prices will keep climbing.

I totally agree with you. It is overpriced. But "only" 1800 for a skyline....

We have quite a few in Denmark, but an exact number is hard to get... My guess would be more than 250, but I could be way off

Well more than 200 are sold in NL but still the total of what is found now. I think we are looking in 50. Where most won't be on the road or even registerd.
I can count around 20 that are driven on regular base. Where 5 are from 1 person 3 from the other. So counting down fast!

Yeah.. tell me about it... I mean if I'm honest it isn't worth spending so much money on an 86 as you can get something better for drifting for so much cheaper. Don't know but I paid stupid money for mine... and now I've dropped the price to £4500 ONO... saying that, at this moment in time I would let it go for about £4200 I think... yes it is still alot of money but considering the money I paid for it... I think it is a bargain for the next person.

TBH I dont really care how much it costs me, its just a figure that i need to save up to if you know what I mean, whether its £4000 or £400,000 its just a 'figure' that I have to get to before one of you hand me the keys. To me the real value is owning one.
I was so dissapointed that I had to use my hard saved hachi money for somthing else, I tried everything to get the cash together, I sold a shedload of stuff, extra hours the lot, I am starting again now, but its going to be a long time before I get anywhere near that figure.
crap.

Yeah, but if I had to choose between my car and saving up cash another two years and buy yours I would definetly choose for the last. Then again: getting mine in the state of your car would learn me a lot about the car itself and that is worth a lot.

Reminds me of the early episodes of Battle Angle Alita (or the movie itself) where Hugo saves up an insane amount of money to get to Nirvana. He's just determined to go no matter what. If it were 10 times as much as that money, he would save it up anyway.
In other words: I totally agree.
But this is getting a bit offtopic now. To get on topic: I've changed the starting post with the estimate per country.
