Does anyone know what happened to the planned AE86 N2 race in USA - was it cancelled? I haven't found any info regarding it other than the initial announcement on a few forums.

Fullerton, CA, February 3,2006 — On May 28th, 2006, a new
chapter will be written in automotive history at Willow Springs,
Rosamond, CA. BTune will host the first ever N2 style AE86 race in
the US, giving drivers, tuners, and vendors a chance to showcase
their talents and products.
Previously, D1 brought drifting over to the US, where thousands of
enthusiasts were introduced to the sport of drifting. After only a
few short years, drifting has become a mainstream sport where
countless enthusiasts have taken it in with open arms. And now,
for the first time in the US, BTune is proud to present the BTune
N2itive AE86 Challenge.
Using the same driving regulations as the N2 races, which
originated in Japan, this race will be a full out, head-to-head battle
between drivers. With this event, thousands of people will be
introduced to a classic race, where cash prizes do not compel a
driver to win, but the competitiveness between drivers to prove
themselves to be the very best.

A dream of mine is to be able to race my car at Tsukuba among other AE86s but since this is obviously not going to happen, being able to attend an event like this in Europe would be a more reasonable goal. It would be interesting to know what was the cause for the US event to be cancelled to perhaps avoid the same fate if some day a similar event would be organized here.
