Hey guys just wondering what engine would be better for a drift project..? a 4A-GE or a 4A-GZE

4A GTE
Many people will have a different opinion on this. 4AGZE has alot more torque at low revs meaning in theory you can get it sideways more easily at low revs while with a turbo or tuned NA you need to bring it to higher revs. This in theory could make a GZE more versatile
However, the drawback is that due to the nature of the supercharger, its top rev is lower, around 6500 rpm? And all the torque is gone at those rpms.
A tuned NA or turbo is capable of much higher RPMs and reaches the required torque at these higher RPMs. So you'll end up drifting at full throttle, which is what crowds love.
I think for drifting, NA or Turbo would be the 'better' if there is such a thing. For short track, auto-X or gymkhana, the wide power band and torque at low revs with a supercharger, can really outshine.

Well here in El Salvador we just have one track El jabali and it has a lot of curves some of they are slow and some are fast so here we drift in the streets maybe you're right if i fit a turbo on the 4A-GE but one question what would be the best turbo kit to fit on it...?

there are so many turbos about it would impossible to pinpoint one turbo as "best"
what sort of power do you want? the toyota ct26 which comes on the celica turbo and gt4 is easy to find and cheap, would spool up mega quick as its only small
there are lots of turbo cars about now so i would look at the most common turbo fitted to cars around you
or choose a manifold from a manufacturer and then get a turbo to fit it
other things to consider are cooling, serious oil cooler required to keep temps in check as the turbo feed off the oil system and the rad system will need an overhaul also
drivetrain, clutch and box are going to need attention if you want it to last long, probably including a new clutch master cylinder, those old seals dont like clutch kicks

just like Mux213 say 4agze if your drifting, but to get the most of the 4agze you'll need to use a 4.1 final gear then you can stay at the rev band much longer.

I'm thinking to fit a 2jz turbo with the same intercooler i think that will work pretty good on it .

Well as my opinion on a 4AGZE.,I have to say it does the job on getting in front of most races as I can hit and launch it hard at the start, good for drags. The previous owner of my car broke his 6.7" LSD differential with the supercharger @ 6-8 PSI,as why he replaced it with a 7.9" diff.

this choice IMO is based on preference. do you like NA or forced induction? if your on a budget, i think its cheaper to produce power with a gze than with an NA 4ag. if your not, there's no denying the sweet sound of an NA 4ag going full on!!!
i used bolt on mods and 3.9 final drive and i could easily mix it up with sr20det silvias
putting a 2jz in an ae86 would definitely be fun....for drag. however, you'll need something stronger than a trd 2way on 86 diff.

2jz in a ae86 will throw of the balance of the car. The weight of the engine will not be good for the response.
ah 20v is n1 and simple. put some extra cams in it and you got around 180 hp on the crank. A gze is a perfect block to go supercharger or turbo. (take of the sc and put on a turbo)
Either way you need to invest alot of money to get a good setup. With drifting you wanne use a 2way (cusco or kaaz) trd is good to but more expensive.
