Family man's ae86
So been a hot minute, but some progress has been made..
Got the diff finished for old mate. Was a fun project in the end. Turns out welding 40 year old cheap shit steel is not amazing lol but got there. With the large gap on the lower arm mount, we did some maths and raising the mount to the diff effectively shortened the arm position by less than a mm, so we decided to just send it lol Car is mostly back together now. Got clutch and flywheel adventures sorted in the end, and everything back in the car. Basically down to wiring now. It's painfully close, I have a list of things to sort out once it's running but they are all short term adventures. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk Had to modify the driver side mount as you can see. The original way i had the 3rd bolt didn't leave enough room for the starter motor (only a few mm in it, but still) i also added some bracing etc post the pics. Got the water lined up and sorted, even have the oil filter fitted lol. The water setup is a bit messy, but works. This engine is an earlier fwd 3sge beams engine. Modifying the water route was simpler and cheaper than swapping headgaskets etc to use the stock rwd stuff... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk It occurred to me that I had no easy access to the new efi tank stuff. Was a bit of a guess and shoot solution, but turned out ok. Needs a little bit of foam or rubber to seal the plate, but all in all it worked out pretty well. Thanks for looking chaps Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |
