NoHachi Wrote:Jamie..you could pass your tax laws by having the engine installed abroad..or just smuggling it into your country in the trunk..If we do decide to get a container, maybe I can get an installation thing going as well..

No way to drive legally then - in my papers except VIN I have also engine code (and even policemen and MOT people can check it and stop the car).

just for kicks i was checking some importing companies that do export from japan to all over the world.. i.e. http://www.tradecarview.com/stock/

and its just funny, the cars are so redicolusly cheap! not only a blacktop, but the whole car BZ-R Levin AE111 can be had for as few as 300-500k yen thats less than 3k eur. it would seem redicolous to pay 2000 eur just for the engine here. (example fensport.co.uk - 1300pouds for a blacktop - thats 2k eur).

the freight cost from japan to holland/germany/italy etc is around 1000 $ according to their page - thats 800eur for the entire car.

im beginning to get more and more interested in importing a whole damn car from japan! although, a nice hachi goes for about the same as a nice GTR 32!! (cca 5000-6000 eur).

In Holland you pay BPM (tax for high taxable goods) for whole cars, so you end up paying taxes over 14 to 15 percent of the BPM value for a new BZ-R (8 or 9 years old), while only 10 percent over a hachi.

So lets say the BZ-R cost 20.000 new in Holland it would be 9048 euros taxes, reduced with 1540 reduction (free import bottom value) is 7508 taxable for a new car. 14 percent of this would mean 1050 euros above the import costs. Turns out the car costs suddenly 2000 euros more than when it was in Japan. And thats even excluding the normal taxes. Huh

However, importing a hachi would reduce the taxes to about 500 euros, which makes it more interesting than importing a BZ-R. Wink

Waiting another two years makes it more interesting: then you don't pay taxes at all because the 1983 hachis are getting tax free. Smile

Getting back on topic: are those engine with or without gearbox?

LOL.

This makes just as much fuzz,as it did here in Denmark, when i got those prices up on a danish forum.

But just look around in forums in Japan and Malaysia, and you can see the prices for your self.

A supra 95 twinturbis around 3500Euro,for a complete car that have no damage,
and yes it is that cheap Thumbs up!

Not sure yet, why would you want an FWD tranny anyway?

No, I meant because of the price. Big Grin
And importing them with tranny makes them sellable to other corolla drivers. Tongue

At the wreckers etc Apolan..but they do not do convenient english pages for you to read..
I'm looking into a couple of things, sent a couple of emails, but no replies yet. As soon as I find out prices, availability etc, I'll throw it onto the forum for everyone to see. If everyone starts contacting the same people, they might bump up prices..while if we bundled our orders, we might even have a bargaining position for a discount.
Keep you posted.
