OST-063: Busy Boy
While OST-062 is out at the shop getting the finishing touches on the machine work, I have time to squeeze this Blacktop head in before I get OST-062 back for assembly....

from another forum Wrote:What are the plans for that V-8?? Celica? Pickup? Corolla? I wanted to put the one I had in a '71 Celica I had, never got around to it, now I don't have either.

Still unsure.... I, like you thought of a RA2, but I'd use the hatchback car - I'm just not a fan of the coupe. Other reasons that likely will not come to fruition is getting one with a decent enough interior. There are few options for the interior... a "newer" car should have more options - read as more availability. But never say never the car may come across that is worthy, that doesn't cost my left testicle to acquire.

Another car I've given thought to is an RT115 Corona SR coupe... again the real tough part would be a good interior... and RUST. Slightly inline would be an RT132 coupe... but those are rarer then the earlier RT115 Corona.

Another thought is an 82-85 Celica coupe - with some kind of custom bidy work... maybe something similar to their rally cars..., but also big flares can also look good. The BIG advantage to this is the interior is LIKELY in better condition, and also more likely find-able.

I do have the driveline mostly worked out... There is a company in British Columbia that converts an A340E bellhousing from an auto, into a manual using the GM AR5 transmission. Finally, I'll likely end up with a Supra MkI 7.5" stick axles to withstand the torque (projected power to be 300hp, 300#/ft)

Proceeding with OST-063...

shaping the intake....

and excavating the exhaust.....

Before heading out to the machine shop - I check the new cams in their journals for fit, we don't want any binding on the new cams....

If you look carefully you'll see there isn't any valve train under those lobes.

Now back from the machine shop having gotten a fresh 3 angle, back cut intake valves, and a resurface, its now ready for assembly. Stock valves, but the springs and retainers are Supertech pieces. These come on a recommendation from Barry @ MRP.

Exhaust side first today...

followed by the intake side

and fully assembled waiting for cam install, and setting valve clearances.....
