Disjaukifa's AE86 Hatchback Project
Hey Guys,

I picked up my 1985 Corolla Hatchback on July 2, 2015 this year and I've been working on it pretty much whenever I have spare time. First here is a picture of the car when I got it:

Some interesting things to note. This car is actually an SR5 that had been converted to a GTS, but it was done so well when I bought the car I hadn't realized it had been done. I've been a fan of the AE86 for well over a decade, and I've been waiting for the right one to show up that I wanted.

The price was perfect, and more importantly, this car is all original, well except for the fact that it was converted to a GTS. Its the hatchback which I like better, and it was within a responsible driving distance for me to go pick-up!

Here are some more pictures of what I have doing to the AE86 since I have gotten it:

Stripped out the seats to get them recovered:

I've got more pictures to posts, actually I have two months of work I've done on the car to post, so it will take a while.

Current the engine is out, disassembled and at the machine shop for cleaning, the transmission is out, the fenders are off, and I'm working on stripping the engine bay apart to clean and paint the entire car. Here's a picture of the AE86 in its most recent state:

Let me know what you think!

Thanks
Disjaukifa

Thanks Bean! I actually just got the Megasquirt stuff in today that I bought from you, so I'm going through and trying to learn all of it as well. This went from just get the car running to a full on tear down and rebuild!

I'm having fun some really that is all that matters!

More photos from July! First off I bought the wheels that I wanted on the car, I found this set somewhat local to my location and very cheap as well, but it gives my AE86 the look I want:

And here is a shelf of parts that I thought would get the car running at the time. I bought the car actually site unseen and I didn't even know what was wrong with it. When I went to pick it up, found out it had a blown head gasket, so I decided to go ahead an replace the water pump, radiator, all the hoses, etc, at the time I didn't think I was going to have to pull the engine, but I later discovered just how nasty the engine was.

Here's another picture of when I'm first starting to work on the car, when almost nothing have been taken off:

And here is a picture of the engine bay as I got it. Missing a cam gear, and some bolts, but it's 95% complete.

I'll post more later as I sort through all the pictures I've been taking!

Thank you! The car is missing the air compressor, but I have bought another one, all the other pieces are there. I does have power steering but I just bought a manual AE86 steering rack so I can reduce the weight of the car as well.
