Small update

I just bought a set of four Yokohama s drive tires for the Supra alu-wheels.

By recommendation I went with 185/55/14.

I'll post some pictures once I get them on the rims and on the car.

Hi again

Got the tires mounted on the rims. They look really great. They will look even better once I get the tire grease off and they become a bit dusty, like the rest of the car.

Rims are from a MA61 - 7x14 ET 8

I'm thinking about adding some rear spats to the rear fender. I have some in fibreglass laying around.

Sitting perfect on MA61 wheels Smile

I took it for a quick test drive around the city. It sticks to the road and goes like a big gocart. I'm really looking forward to this summer now Smile

Nice supra's, do think the car would look a whole lot better with a silver roof and some side trim though.

Hi again

Its been quite a while since the last update and I figured it was about time for a small update on my AE86 project.

The reason for the lack of updates is mainly because when it is summer time I drive my car around. During the winter I'll work on projects again (now). So ever since I got my car through MOT I have driven about 2137 kms and every kilometer has been a pleasure. I hope the next summer will be just as joyfull.

Here is a few pictures from the places I have gone to.

Here I am in Horsens getting some fuel and an icecream

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Here I am escorting a couple of Corvettes to the Gråsten oldtimer run. My car was one of the youngest :-)

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Here I am at Kalø at a Tuesday gathering

From the same gathering at Kalø

Here I am at a supermarket in Hedensted. Not really that exciting.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Here I am at the 50 years of Toyota being in Denmark. Great event and we beat the world record of having 426 Toyotas in a single convoy.

On of the final summer pictures this year. I'm in Horsens again at Biltema waiting for about 50 Corvettes to arrive.

Still waiting...

Thats it for the summer pictures this time. I hope to see more AE86's at next years meetings.

The next post will be one of my small projects. Until next time, hammer down.

Thanks Smile

Another thing I had done in the early summer was getting a whell alignment. I hadn't really thought about it but the car was always pulling to one side unable to drive straight. Once I got the wheels aligned it drove so much better. If you're fiddling with the suspension setup I would really recommend doing it.

Another thing I did just after the MOT was making a cover for the spare wheel. I have removed the spare wheel since I won't be needing it Cool but then the carpet drops into the hole (I don't want to use the large soundproofing mat). To avoid this I have made a cover of fibre glass. When the carpet is folded down it looks like there is a spare wheel.

This is how I did it.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
I put the spare wheel back in place and covered it with plastic

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Then I cut a piece of fibreglas cloth

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
I used just about half a liter of epoxy. I would like to have had two layers of fibre glass cloth, but I ran out of resin so one will have to do

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Let it dry for some hours

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Trim the edges and you have a nice cover. It isn't able to take that much weight, but even one layer of fibre glass is quite strong

Hiding all my safety stuff. Also the wheel well makes sure that it doesn't fly around in the back when I'm doing some mad drifting... Tongue

Next post will be about the rear spats I just painted and installed.

Hi again. This will properly be the final post this round. If you have any questions or more detailed pictures please just ask :-)

So, this post is about some rear spats I got hold on 4-5 years ago. I bought them at MCNSport at the time along with some other stuff. I always wanted the car to have a more boxy look to it. The rear spats and the side skirts will definitely help with this.

Fibre glass rear spats that fits the original rear bumber

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
I was able to mount them using only two bolts. If I decide to remove them again the holes would nearly invisible.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Another danish restoration]
Once they get as dirty as the rest of the car they will fit right in.

I'm quite happy with results and I'm looking forward to see the end result when the side skirts have been installed.

During the spring I'll be working on getting my side skirts installed and removing the holes in my rear parcel tray and also getting it redone with some new fabric.

Have a nice 2014

Hi again

I have always wondered what kind of steering wheel I had in the car. It is the only one I have seen with Toyota written on it.

Here is what I have learned so far. It is called Italvolanti Corsa. I have seen it in various VWs with the text "16v" on it. I have never seen another AE86 with this steering wheel.

If you know anything. Please let me know.
