what bearings for my build?
Hello everyone,

I'd like o get some input/experiences regarding bearings for mains and rods for my engine build.

I'm using a 40mm crank so less options available Sad

So far I considered TRD and ACL Race for the Mains (100$-130$)
and TRD for the rods.

My engine will rev up to 8-9k and 170-200hp @fly.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to your experiences.

PS: also opinions about the 'perfect' clearance/tolerance for the bearings would be interesting. Car is not an all out racer so still used on the street for a run down to the shops etc...

There are quite a few other brands (clevite, F1 Black, OEM Toyota, etc). I'm looking for experience people had with any and how they lasted etc... As I don't plan to drop the sump every 6 months to check if everything is still in one piece.

I'm running clevite if that helps...........

Oh... btw... you DON'T want to spin that crank much above 8400....

the early cranks are lighter... by almost a kilo... but because SOME of the counter weights are different, the crank can have issues above the mid 8000s

The crank will be worked to prevent this. I won't take it beyond 7k in this country anyway.

How much were the Clevite and are they available in different sizes?
ACL only has 2 sizes. TRD 2 seizes for rod-end and 6 for mains. And so on...
