nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Quote:i am envious about the workshop and the cars
I believe you about the price of N2 build, you done it all properly
But can i ask something: that TRD gear set can you tell me how much it costs and where is it possible to buy it? And what incudes it? its complete gear set ready to replace or only an rebuild set for stock T50?

many thanks
Stan
The TRD gearset is avalible from the toyota dealerships here in NZ , the cost is about $2500 - $3000 nzd or 1500 euro. It supplies the replacement of all gears , but no bearings or syncros, this is all in the T50 housing.

I have taken the body shell to the media blasters today and will get them to etch prime it for me this time, as the air is starting to get a bit damp here, so may have it back by the end of the week .

A small update
I have the shell back from having the paint removed and etch primed, and have spent the weekend welding the cage together and making the base plates, next is the seat mounts and parallel trailing arm boxes in the rear floor

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Another weekend and a little more progress.
Todays mission has been to fabricate the equal length rear trailing arm boxes and cut the rear floor to fit them
Starting with a peice of cardboard I made up the template that I needed
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

A bit of trimming and folding and they look like this
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

Then traced onto sheet steel to cut out , both sides are the same (just folded as opposites, left and right) and cut them out with a jigsaw
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

A bit of careful measuring and marking before attacking the rear floor with a cut off saw

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,]

One slight delay , the steel folder I had to use did not have enough horsepower to fold 1.2mm so these will be folded next week

This is from the N2 manual , I have tried to copy the shape the best I can , the angle of the photo that I took of the cardboard box in place looks steep but it is just the camera angle.
The rear arms are being made at the moment by an engineer and should be done in a week or so, along with a panard rod , all the arms will be rose jointed and adjustable,
Maybe I should have called Toyota to see if the still have part number 51208-AE801, yeah right!

This kit I have made from the moulds that I have, these still have the original shape around the wheel arch, as alot of these kits have been reshaped to fit larger wheels
