Here's one more header that's designed exclusively for LHD cars;

http://www.martelius.com/index.php?modul...uct=490045

I have the previous "evolution" Martelius header for AE86, which is 4-1. Fits right in without any problems but stiffer engine mounts (f.ex. TRD ones) are required as the tubes pass _very_ close to the frame rail on their way down.

as you can see it's been modified to fit in lhd car but you still need to flange it 1cm or so...I would ask 150

for like 20.000 yen I would buy a used header in japan at specialized shops but I have to be sure it fits, anybody knows any model?

the whole idea is to keep the tube diameter same throughout the whole lenght. You've just changed that.

Hmmmmmm does anyone else see the Martelius 4/2/1 does NOT alternate on the primaries??? 1-3-4-2 shouldn't pipes 1 and 4 be grouped together and and 3 and 2 grouped together???? That way the pulses are even when they arrive at the next joint.

There is SOME work going on now in the USA for a LHD header. Here is the current link - http://www.hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14855

A few years back(3 now...) I was able to resurrect the old Dobi/KBD header.

We sold about 75 of them... and rarely is one for sale used..... fit was very good with the only issue being the EGR pipe had to be loosened at the compression fitting to make proper fitment. No bending.... just looseneing and then tightening once all were aligned and fitted.

No modifing of the car at all! Noo excess heat(w ceramic coating). The most common comment... this header smooths out the 4AGE......

Externally measured
Primaries - 38mm(1.5") x 406mm(16")
Secondaries - 45mm(1.8") x 406mm(16")
Collector - 66mm(2.6") x 102mm(4")
Adapter - 66mm-52mm x 255mm(10") the "stock" adapter allows the header to bolt to the stock cat...
OR a custom adapter can be fitted if you choose to run 2.5" exhaust

Dan -

You can |Sad .... OR you can ask for help!!!

Quite interesting - I hadn't noticed that before.

Grouping cylinders only 180 degrees apart like on the Martelius header is going to move up the RPM range at which the scavenging effect of the exhaust pulses creates a benefit. So the pulse from #2 is going to scavenge exhaust from #1 and #3 from #4 - the engine just needs to run at a high enough RPM for the effect to occur. The long secondaries are probably tuned so that the pulses from #1/#2 and #3/#4 interlace to create a scavenging effect to #2 and #3.

Designing exhaust headers is really a strange artform and I'm not very very good at understanding how it all works but I'd imagine that the Martelius header works similarly to a 4-1 (peak power at quite high RPM) but with the additional benefit of an extended torque range of a 4-2-1 design.

@firehawk, the Martelius header you've got is a 4-1, you told. How is it performing? In which powerband does this header unleash its performance?
