Wheel not running straight - possible issues?
I've currently got my car on the dyno being mapped for next weekend. The rear drivers side wheel isn't running true and has been putting a minor amount of vibration through the car. I'm guessing this is a wheel bearing issue? If not what are other possible causes?

I'm thinking buckled wheel is another possibility. Although I'm trying to think of the best way to narrow it down using simple methods instead of taking everything apart.

Swap it with a front one , then see if it runs true . Smile

Ah yes. Someone speaking sense. I thought of that earlier after having time to think it through

Looking over it, it would seem my wheel could very well be buckled, I'll be checking a bit more thoroughly tomorrow when I have more time. The only other thing I can think of is, a possibility that my discs have warped quite horribly causing the wheel to not sit straight on the hub.

My bearings appear to be fine however, no noise and no play.

Warped discs may cause a rubbering noise from the brakes but will not make the wheel sit wonky.

Some discs are a tight fit onto the halfshaft. I had an issue like you are having and I discovered that there was some rusting on the outer edge of the halfshaft flange and some imperfections inside the disc where it slides over the flange. These two combined ensured that the disc did not sit true on the flange and then the wheel ran out of true.
You could try bolting the disc on without the wheel to see what it's like then. Maybe a trolley jack under the diff. and running on tickover in 1st gear. hth, TC
