in unpolsihed intake the winds whirl more, so the fuel and air mix beter in unpolished intake. This proces is called "atomisation".
Some say that you can polish the intake but, only before the injectors.

2 plex: The first picture is intake when i was doing porting, it looks polished becaude high rev speed of the grinder. On the second picture i gave the intake slightly rough finish, i didnt polish it. Ill give u close picture of intake surface later.
