car sat in field for 5 years...
what do i do? it's been attacked with rust to where, in some places, i can push my finger through the sheet metal.

go balls out project with full tear down, invest a year or more and $xxxxx?

or

part it out?


parked after a timing belt snap. 1987 gts coupe.

opinions with logic and reason please.

Part it out.

Cars like these serve a good purpose, and that's to keep all of the other AE86s going which are in better condition!

If no one wrecked cars like this, people would have to wreck the nicer ones, as there wouldnt be any parts to keep them going when things break.

is it bad everywhere? I have seen cars standing outside for longer and still being saved? Post some pics?

ok, rust wasnt too bad. when i first pulled it into the shop, it wouldnt stay running. funny what a fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, and an oil change will do. it now purrs like a kitten. I spent all of today giving the interior a chemical bath and vacuuming.

however, the a/c compressor pully took a shit, the headlights turn on, but do not flip up, and the interior blower motor sounds like rats fighting to the death.
