I'm currently looking at a pair of Adjustable Cam Gear:

to be honest is there really going to be any difference between the 2 in build quality, obviously i done want the cam gears breaking free and causing some bent valves and dented pistons

What ever you get make sure the edges are smooth to avoid excessive wear on the belt.

there can be differences in cam gears.... mostly based on the pin diameters....

check for pin fit... either no fit... T3 type with an "opened" up pin hole

or loose fit - SS Works timing pulleys

I eventually went with the T3, I opened them up for a perfect zero tolerance (no slop) fit

Oh... there is another problem with the T3 pulleys... I was able to overcome once they told me... they mis-machined the location of the opening for the intake pin... they did tell me how to fix it... I made a diagram to better understand how to set T3 timing

Alex170984 Wrote:Hi All,

My name is Alex and come from the UK.

Last night I unwrapped my camshafts from Cat Cams Smile - 252/260 with 8.5/9.0mm lift - They will be put on this weekend along with my new Cometic Metal HG which is 1mm thick.

All I have left to buy is a pair of vernier pulleys and a lower cambelt cover as mine broke during the removal of the engine / engine parts.

Has anyone else used these cams before and what has been the outcome?

Thanks for reading. I could have written a lot more but its making my hand hurt!!

Hmmm, are those the Catcams??? The exhaust cam lobes appear to have an unusual shape to them......

It's at home on my window sill in a jiffy bag but I haven't been at home recently and the mr2 has been a royal PITA.

The cams are dialled it and are working fine.

Yes they are CatCams.

Hi guys,

Just thought i would let you all know I have now put in the cams with the adjustable gears:

Was super easy as i only had the change 1 shim!

still need to adjust the timing as its lacking power at the bottom and mid range which is a job for tomorrow.
will also need to check the jetting to make sure its not running lean[/img]
