Hi everyone,
I would like to buy a kit of braided brake lines for my 86 but I really don't know what brand to take. Goodridge seems good but expensive. Someone has another brand as good as Goodridge and cheaper ? Thanks all. |

I believe that Goodridge are approved for road use, worth checking if you are going to use the car on the road.

I have Driftworks lines and I'm pleased with them. Good thick orange plastic around them aswell.

Goodrige and expensive? They're ~135€ a set so pretty affordable in my opinion.
Other brands: - Hel (approved) 135€ - Driftworks (not approved) 105€ - Spiegler (approved) 110€ Daily Beater: Civic EG5 Work in progress Car: AE86 |

Hi all,
Just bought a set of braided brake lines for my AE86. The nipple that goes in the rear caliper seems to be the good one but the other nipple that screw with the copper line from the axle seems to be not correct. Of course it's a female type but inside it's inverted flare (concave) and the end of the copper line that come from the rear axle is also inverted flare (concave). In my mind, inverted flare against inverted flare will not work. Aim I right and do I need an adapter to convert it into male 3AN (convex) to do flare into inverted flare ?? or is it OK inverted flare against inverted flare ? Sorry for my bad English I'm from Belgium Thanks for your help. |

I'll see if I can find a brake line so I can check for you. I'd say it's fairly obvious that you shouldn't use the lines if the nipples are incorrect, it's only your life your risking after all.

In my opinion that won't work. Either return the line, have a new one made or buy another. Don't like the idea of fiddling with adapters in the brake system.

The most crazy is that the seller at Driftworks said to me: "there is not problems with that. The braided lines are made by HEL and we already asked for that and HEL said that you can put it together without any problems."
My car without brakes is not their problems also. |
