I'm looking for aftermarket springs with springrate 25-40% over standart, but without lowering.

This is a good choice. I'm interested in such springs too!

16v versions fit with a few minor modifications. 20v manifolds do exist, but not from any big manufacturer AFAIK, so just modify what you can find.

I've just ordered set of front springs (custom made). The guy told me that he can make max 3,4kg/mm with out any lowering. It's approx. 60% more then stock. Price per pair is around 80€. I'll write my impressions in 1 or 2 weeks.

Found on Fensport Racing webpage such info

Quote:Custom Spring kit, Handmade to your own specification - Any rate and height - Ideal for Race/Rally applications - A complete set of 4 - Allow 4 weeks for delivery £149.00

I think its interesting offer.

Somebody knows AE86 stock spring springrate?

I made a custom springs. In fact, it's a copy of KONI 2220-1056 springs with a little modification of rear springs – they are longer for 15 mm. The wire diameter is 12 mm.
I borrowed original springs from my friend's ae86. Zn - galvanized for rust protection.
All included 115€.
Car has approximately 2 cm of drop, and it is stiffer then stock. It’s a very good solution for everyday ride and cheap one also.

Hey max,

Cool! Have some more info about spring rates? Sounds like these are copies from the street springs, not the race springs? So they should fit nicely without doing any modifications other then some nice clean shocks?

Sounds like a nice deal!

I've been running custom springs for about 8 years now... stock(USA) AE86 GTS rates are 1.9 front and 2.2 rear. My custom springs are wound to 4.5kg/mm front with a 3.0 rear rate. It also rides at stock height - you can see that very evidently at my fiberglass front bumper as it is above a curb stone

I had the springs made at Turkon Tonk(now bankrupt subsidiary of Suplex)
There is still a problem running a linear stiffer spring even at stock ride height... the strut case can still unload more then the preload on such a spring... To remedy that I used 50 year old technology.... strap and clamps!

if you look closely you will see a nylon limiting strap! Instead of "this device" and then "that device"... I just used Illuminas... my custom springs... and 2 - 5' sections of 2" nylon tiedown strap and 4 SS hose clamps! It has worked PERFECTLY for 8 years now... even with the car once sitting on a lift for 17 days!!!
