Unfortunately my Kanji is nonexistent and it's too time consuming trying to decipher it with my books.
If no one here can read this ask me again in 6 months then I'll have the time to do it myself.
Very curious to know what it sais.

Same for me, I would be able to decypher Hiragana/Katakana myself but Kanji is much harder Big Grin
I have some people who actually might be able to read it or ask their spouses, so I'll definitely update once I have received it. Tongue

That Donut Media video has so many mistakes in pronunciation it bothers me Big Grin. And the owner somehow managed to transform the 2 door car into a 3 door car. Good for him Tongue jk

The rust issue is a real pain and I feel you. I hope the shops will do a good work. Tha Japanese text however is hard for me, too. Handwritten stuff is still difficult for me.

Only a few videos on youtube discussing ae86s are decent. Donut media video is a half assed attempt as usual. They could’ve registered themselves on an enthusiast website to get their facts straight.

Mine has a hole in exactly the same place. It’s just at the edge of that re-enforcing plate. Do people repair this by drilling out the spotwelds or just cut into it and weld in a small repair section?

I think the repair in my case will be a cut and replace job.
About the mystery post-it: my good friend Daniel O'Grady was able to (get it) translate(d). It reads:
Quote:Driver's side, inside, no rivets
As I suspected: someone bought some parts from a wrecker or a company like UpGarage and undid the stripped out interior. This confirms the non-matching de-colorization of the plastics in the rear.

I just realized I never updated this thread...
By the end of 2019, a few months after the big rusty hole in my rear inner wheel well was fixed, I parked the AE86 in a lockup. My intention was to do this temporarily, but then the pandemic happened. Undecided
Then MOT expired on the Carina and the Carina is basically occupying the space in my garage meant for the AE86. So once the Carina is out of the way I can finally get the AE86 back. The Carina did not pass MOT last year and I was so bummed out by that, that I decided to wait until this year to work on it again.

However, I did pay the AE86 a visit in December:

So it sits there parked behind a Figaro. Spiders love the AE86 as well:

My plan is to get the Carina pass MOT during spring, then sell the Carina with all parts I have. Then get the AE86 out of the lockup and sell it as well and get another/different AE86.

Why do you want to sell this 86 for another one?

Good question! Thumbs up!
I think the short answer is legacy and convenience.
The long answer is that there is a history attached to this car. Firstly, I bought it with the intention of getting the experience of importing a car from Japan and then sell it off. There were too many little pieces to fix before I was confident enough to sell it, but in the meantime I became attached to the car. Banging head
Second of all even though I'm not a big fan of RHD, living with a RHD in a LHD country is doable and I got used to driving on the wrong side quickly. However, I'm already tired of the gimmick and the overview of the road ahead from the passenger seat isn't that great. So I'd rather drive LHD like I'm used to and therefore I'm planning to sell this car to get another one. Wink
