Steering column weight savings?
Is there anything to be had in the steering column? It has that big shroud over it, wonder if anyone has ever cut into it? Its quite weighty!

I don`t think mine (Manual rack) has the shroud.

I think this is as far as one gets unless fabricating the same stuff in alloy tubing etc:

Yeah I think you are right, a custom made alloy one is probably the way to go...
